Okami fought for the belt in 2011 before Jacare was in the UFC. Yushin was trying to make a 2nd run in 2013 (on a 3 fight W streak) when he met Jacare at the gate and was denied. Never got near a TS since
 
He was more of a contender than your typical gatekeeper.

He was always top 5 n 1 win away from fighting for the title on numerous occasions

I guess it depends on your definition of gatekeeper. But if you're talking a guy who keeps the gate to TSs and top 5, Jacare's the man

Yup you are right. For some reason I had remembered Okami fighting Anderson after.
 
several of those guys are or at least were contenders.
 
A lot of these guys don't fit the definition imo. The best options are Barboza, Cerrone, Stephens or Guida. They consistently lose to the top 5, are a tough fight for 5-10 and wreck unranked dudes. Also, they have fought so many times that they have some name recognition and beating them is going to get you some notoriety.
