A lot of people are shocked that Mirko is headlining a UFC card in Europe, but the fact is the name Mirko Cro Cop will probably bring more asses into the arena then the rest of the roster on that card put together.

Brock is just as irrelevant in the HW picture, but if he came back tomorrow he would be headlining a Vegas card, and it would do better numbers than any UFC champ can dream of.

UFC is desperate for star power, and Conor is bringing something new to them, but aside from him it's basically boring champs with no personality like Weidman, Cain, Lawler, and Aldo... or just unlikeable characters like Jones and Rhonda. Guys like Rampage and Mirko are not gonna seriously threaten for a title anymore, but fans will always want to see them fight because they're the last of a dying breed. They are larger than life original personalities, in a sport that's becoming saturated with JOAT clones, and point fighters.

damn ... you're very right. Sad

... So are you suggesting that Mirko stole a headlining spot on a Fight Pass card from one of the champions?

dude. people love ronda. casuals will be what allows the sport to grow, and the people could only ever be described as casual and never as hardcore

Cro Cop vs Mir only did 295k buys back in 2010. He's a decent draw for European cards which is what they are using him for. Post 2005 tuffers mostly know Mirko as the guy who got rekt in the UFC.

sadly true

From all of the campions, especially the undefeated ones.

Maybe they'd throw Carla Esparza on Fight Pass, maybe. Typically they save the champions for PPV and the odd FOX card.

The way I see it Rampage and Mirko are intriguing headliners for smaller shows and a fun addition to the bigger ones. They may not be in their prime, but they aren't totally shot and I'd argue there are several fighters on the roster that they can both beat, meaning they're still 'UFC caliber' in a way. And you can't really say they didn't earn a spot on the roster, given their respective careers.

I'm far more interested in Cro Cop vs Gonzaga II as a main event than I am Thatch vs Wonderboy for instance (though I am still excited for that fight too).
