    TIMESTAMPED

    CLIFFS

They say the Ali Act is a mixed bag
They say Championship Clause would disappear
It would lead to more fighter movement
Says fighters would paid for their likeness in video games and stuff
Josh says Jon Fitch is good friend but thinks he is wrong about Ali Act
They says LOW TIER and MID TIED MMA guys get paid more than boxing counterparts
BIG STARS will receive massive pay increases as they generate most revenue
They say LOW and MID TIER guys will likely suffer
They believe will lead to shorter fight card

I have to say I agree with everything said in the Cliffs. I expected them to be like Fitch but they are just stating the facts. So I will gladly say I was wrong. I might have to start listening to them.

Those cliffs sound fine to me overall. More good than bad.

A thing is champions of different orgs having the freedom to fight each other and not be tied to a single promotion by contract. This opens up MMA, and not just on a champ level.

MMA is inherently a journeyman/mercenary next meal type of sport. They should be able to seek their prizes wherever they want, and be compensated accordingly to what they draw, and it's up to them how much time they want to invest in becoming a bigger draw. This is basic freedom in the marketplace.

I tend to agree with them (at least potentially/hypothetically), but I can't see any-which-way that after implementation this wouldn't smooth things out. . . again, over time. OF COURSE change is scary, and will have an impact upon and shake-up the current status-quo. The figure that bothers me most is that currently the UFC only uses about 20% of it's profit to pay its fighters as oppose to 50-80% of most other combat sports like boxing. Those numbers are so disproportionate that I find it absurd (and quite American, unfortunately) to claim that the sky is falling anytime real, healthy, fair change is suggested.

Important questions: How likely is it the Ali Act will be extended to cover MMA, and if it is, how soon?

This will ruin the current mma model, which is a terrible fucken idea. Look at how shitty the boxing ecosystem is for more info. Yes getting fighters paid more is a good thing but this isnt the way to do it. Also it would definitely strip the mma middle class that is what keeps the sport healthy. Also fight cards would be garbage, with probably just main and co main being solid while rest of card is last minute cans added on. Fitch is an idiot for supporting this and it would negatively effect his own career lol

Its unfortunate but true. Up and comers in boxing do get paid less than you get in the UFC for starting guys.

Historically its always been shit pay in boxing unless you "make" it.

There is a scene in Rocky where he and another guy he fought get paid 50 bucks each less corner fees etc.. That's not an exaggeration for club fighters back in the day.

The only real path to better revenue for a boxer is medaling in the Olympics.

I wish the UFC would just increase the percentage of revenue to 50% from 16-18% where it's currently at. I like how it is now it's just the pay that needs improving. Ali act could potentially bring some bad but I rather have that than how it currently is.

The good greatly outweighs the bad. These UFC contracts that amount to slave ownership need to go away.
