In a lot of ways, the mutual respect between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor heading into their UFC 202 rematch comes down to their voyage together into unchartered territory. McGregor is coming off his first UFC loss against Diaz, and now he’s trying to figure out how to down a man who didn’t go down on his kill shot the last time. Diaz is coming off a radical payday, the kind that can only happen against McGregor, and that has given him a bigger sense of his own power. Each has put the other in a novel position, and they continue to nod at each other from afar because they both know it.

They were doing it again during Friday’s media conference call 15 days out from the fight, in which they rallied around the upcoming payday like a campfire. McGregor particularly warmed his hands by touting his new #TheMacLife website, which he believes will revolutionize media (or rather, as his clicks will attest, already is revolutionizing media). He referred to himself as a promotional potentate, of sorts, and at one point casually credited Mr. McGregor alongside Mr. Fertitta and Mr. White for being geniuses in the business. He also gave Nate props for his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel and, when it came down to it, he pointed out how difficult it is to do that kind of media before a fight.

McGregor empathizing with Diaz? It all seems so…unphony. So brethreny. So big picture in a game usually broken into so many tiny ones.

Anyway, Diaz has become a (much bigger) star......

    Rest is here, good article.

The only thing Diaz respects is the money he's about to make when he beats Conor again.

Sure, Nate knows and will always be thankful to Conor for changing his life. Only Nate`s fans have a hard time to accept that reality.

There is definitely respect between them. Conor openly stated he always liked the Diaz brothers and their style of fighting, prior to the first fight. And immediately after the first fight, Nate gave props to Conor, saying, "We got it done."

Despite the antics, these guys actually like one another, and are somewhat business partners in working the system and making each other huge paydays. haha

My thoughts exactly. Besides, they have a lot in common. They both come to fight. Nate doesn't give a fuck, Conor doesn't give a fook eeder.

I love it. War Nate. War Conor.

A lot of idiots buy into the WWE style promos, which is good for both of them since they make more money because of it so they're not gonna be very open about how they respect each other but it's obvious if you can see pass the antics. It's beneficial for both.

Nah. People say shit like this to justify liking fighters that are incorrigible. Selling a fight is not an excuse for talking shit about people's families or making racist comments. I've said it before and will again. The fact MMA fans feel they need this kind of bullshit in order to get excited for premeditated bloodshed, probably makes them the worst, most nihilistic and disgusting fans in sports. People like Conor and Sonnen are not 'selling fights.' They are just being themselves. Assholes, sexists and racists

Soon we will see a viral video of Nate and Conor training touch butt together. Then you will know it's real.

Conor fans' only solace is that Nate is too nice of a guy to humiliate Conor and to call him out on his bullshit.

Does anyone else find it fascinating that with no title on the line, and a so-so record, Diaz has no motivation to win this fight? If he wins, no trilogy, if he loses a contentious bout...red panty night 3X.
