In which fight DC was better version of himself?

Same fighter. Showed a bit more heart in the Gustafsson fight.

Same. Only difference is that Jones fought better than Gus.

Same version, different opponent.

DC clearly won r1 vs Gus, lost it vs Jones. That probably helped him psychologically throughout the Gus fight, and Gus has shown to be relatively weak in the fifth, as opposed to Jones, which meant DC was able to pull it off by winning the final round against Gus, and not so vs Jones.

Same DC

Difference being Jones neutralized Cormier's dirty boxing early, was more committed to body work from the start, and was able to impose his will in the clinch from round 3 on to drain him even more.

same fighter imo. Which exposes Gus' weak gameplanning. Gus showed in the Jones fight that he has similar strengths to Jones yet he did nothing to implement Jones' blueprint of how to beat DC. Gus probably could do the same clinch/dirty boxing style of fight that Jones did, but he obviously did hardly any training in the clinch.

same fighter.

somehow just mauled the mauler in the clinch with those uppercuts.

Better version is the SF HW one when still around 245lbs

rewatch the jones fight and see how frenetic DCs movement is. he was so on edge because of jones' unpredictability. i think he was a little more mature in the gus fight but the fights were very very different to watch, if you actually see them together

Looked better against Gus, but Jones put up one hell of a performance against him so, could very well be that.

This. His Jones performance was better than he's given credit for but it looks like he was morally defeated in the third round when jones kept taking him down.

Gus... because he actually striked. Against Jones all he wanted to do was wrestling.

DC hands are really underrated.

DC finished stronger in the Gus fight... I think that is a meaningful improvement.

You would have to assume DC is better now. DC used the clinch and clsoed the distance very well to set up his punches and those uppercuts. JJ did a good job at keeping a distance and delivering some wicked body shots that slowed DC down.

The rematch will be interesting for sure. If DC can fight inside, he will have a good chance. Just has to watch out for JJ's knees and elbows. Easier said than done.

He looked lost in the clinch and he lost the fight because of it. He needs a new camp clinching is something they should have worked on. A smaller guy dominating someone that much bigger than him in the clinch is pathetic.

Did you watch the fight? Jones didn't do a good job of keeping distance. He would move back until DC clinched him and then that's where they spent most of the fight.

Your mistaken his style is pretty simple he rushes in with strikes clinches you and then hits you with the uppercut. The problem is Gus wanted nothing to do with this and he would do everything to try and break the clinch while taking damage at the same time. Jones in his own words "embraced the grind". He didn't fight the clinch he accepted it and it's where DC wanted to be to so he accepted it. Jones was just able to keep going in the clinch better and longer than DC could. Striking with Jones is just going to have DC eating a bunch of kicks. Then again Jones might just throw him against the cage and bully him.

Cormier in the first round of the Gus fight. But he got injured quickly.

Yep, I watched it. Wasn't it rounds 3-5 where it was mostly against the cage ? 1 & 2 were more striking match where JJ hit some good body shots then DC decided to push him to the cage. It was a while ago, I do not remember exactly how each round went.
