What do you guys think?

i think Maia
Probably Maia, he did outstrike Munoz for a good amount of their fight.
Shouldn't it be 'Worse Striking'? Better would imply that either has good striking......
Shields via body kick.
Maia by a fair margin
Shields by a lot
Better Striking: Shields
More Awkward Striking: Shields
Better Grappling: Maia
Outcome: Shields via SD
Yea, I gotta go with Maia as well.
Maia, easily. His striking has been shit on for one fight where he and Chris were both at like 50%. A couple of fights prior he rocked Munoz and forced him to hug his way to a questionable W.
Outside of those two fights, he's stood with Grove, Miranda, Miller, and some scrub named Anderson Silva and managed to not get decimated, winning 3 of those 4.
Someone just typed "Hurr Durr K1 Maia" and thus everyone repeated it, because it's sherdog, where the funniest guy is the one who repeats the same joke 50 times.
Maia's got good footwork, good shoulder defense, and counters really well.
Shields is just terrible at striking. Nice kicks though.
gonna have to say shields because for some reason that goofy bastard makes it work and his opponents get so confused by how bad it is that they forget how to engage.....DAMNIT AKIYAMA
Now that I remember Maia held his own against P4P best striker on the planet Chris Weidman, so yeah, Maia via whatever he wants on the feet.
I agree, he did OK against Munoz, imo.
Here are some gifs.
Hahaha! Good one, sir.
seriously, this is the only fight other than Anderson, Weidman or Marquardt where he's been forced to stand the whole time and he looked just fine. All of those 3 were or are world beaters at MW.
His striking against Miller looked good as well
Maia has good striking. It's no worse than a lot of UFC guys. It's better than a lot of the roster. I think it's just something that's overblown on here.
Yes, against Shields he'll do just fine standing, if the fights goes to ground I don't see neither of them getting the submission, tbh.
I assume you're picking him to win vs. Shields as well?
I'll go with Shields. It's super ugly, but he did ok against GSP, Woodley & Akiyama. I don't think Maia has ever done ok striking with anybody.
Separate names with a comma.
