Better mob movie: The Godfather or Godfellas?

Godfather 1/2 is the better film, Goodfellas is more fast paced and action packed so it may be more entertaining, plus Joe fucking Pesci.

They're all great great movies anyway, together with Casino and Raging bull they're fucking classics. If you trash one of these your opinion is worthless

The Godfather, but it depends on the time period you want, as trying to compare each other is not fare. Goodfellas is more in your face violent side of the mafia, where as Godfather is a bit more of behind the scenes type.

A couple years ago I would have said Goodfellas but I rewatched both Godfather 1 and 2 a few months ago and my word...FANTASTIC.

I can see where people say that it's boring and long but I love that. I don't need every scene to be exciting, it's nice to have a movie take its time.

Makes me think about how we glorify organised crime.
I loved those movies, and still do.
But something changed about how I view them.
Bottom line is they shake down hard working shop keepers, kill people and steal.

Godfather was more personal, as in, it made me ask deeper internal questions about my own family life, growth, and responsibilities.

Goodfellas was more entertaining.

both surperb movies, for me that Goodfellas is all about a snitch ratting out all his friends and all the people that got him to where he was.....because he was a complete fuck up....kills me, I understand its a true story but hard for me to get behind the character

Its about that character being corrupted by the mob lifestyle and indeed how ultimately code or no there isn't any real loyalty to it.
