Better Crossover Film: AvP or Freddy vs Jason?

Both were Horror movie and Sci Fi fan's dreams come true. Did they live up to hype? Meh...

It's hard to do when you have these to concepts made into a movie. I enjoyed Freddy vs Jason for what it was at the time but looking back on it, it wasn't all that great. It's not bad but not good either.

There were many parts of the film that didn't went against it's past films.

A main one was Jason being afraid of water.

He fucking walked/swam all the way to NYC. Still boggles my mind that they did that goofy shit.

AvP I remember not enjoying at all. Honestly I remember a couple scenes but if you showed me the film now it probably would all seem new to me.

AvP was the better film of the two. It had plenty wrong with it, but it made some effort to tie the two franchises together in a meaningful and coherent way, including the alien skull at the end of Predator 2. It's no accident that Prometheus basically used the same story elements.

I didn't LIKE AvP but I didn't hate it with a passion. I'd slightly prefer that it had never been made.

Freddy vs Jason... I watched it and forgot about it by the next day. By the time we got to this installment, Jason is literally just a rotting giant with a machete and a hockey mask. I think most people never even saw the first three Friday the 13th movies and remembered what was going on there, and by this point, those movies were irrelevant anyway.

I read an interview recently with the script writers of Jason vs Freddy and their reasoning for Jason being afraid of water in the film was that it wasn't the water he was afraid of but his one fear is drowning. It somewhat makes sense if you think about it. From Friday the 13th VI Jason Lives on he is pretty much an unkillable zombie and gives no fucks about water as seen I believe starting in Jason Lives when he enters Crystal Lake to go after Tommy Jarvis. Being that he is unkillable the water doesn't scare him but he still has that traumatic fear of drowning in his sub-conscience that Freddy uses against him. Jason drowning as a child is at the core of who his character is so I thought it was a cool idea for that to be a weak spot in his armor that Freddy could exploit.

At least Freddy vs Jason was intentionally campy . AVP was just brutal disappointment. Predators got murked, humans were utterly idiotic and the aliens were all the sudden durable as hell.
