I know Nates the more popular guy. However, I feel Gil spent his prime in strike force and held that title for a while. He also had narrow narrow losses to Alvarez and Benson. He basically almost beat two UFC champs whereas Diaz shit the bed against Benson and RDA respectively.

    What's your opinion?

    Is this a serious question?

Giblert and not even remotely close. Hes easily a top 10 LW ever unlike Nate who isn't top 20, has an argument for top 5, been top 5 @ FW too. Vastly more top wins @ LW and also has a couple top wins at FW. Giblert was arguably the best LW in the world at one point while Nate never was close and Gil has been in the top 10 P4P while Nate's never been close.

It's probably not super popular to say right now. But thus far Gilbert has had the better career. He also might actually be the better fighter.

I agree with you. His boxing is also great, but his wrestling is far better. He too has a great chin, but He's the more complete fighter.

Likely Gilbert. Nate can salvage his career unlike Nick The Stick tho.

Yeah I think Nate has the crisper hands and probably the better submission game. But I think Gilbert's overall skill-set trumps what Nate is best at. Plus I think Gilbert is better at adjusting as a fight progresses. With maybe the Barboza fight being an exception. But I feel after a long lay-off and coming back to fight a killer like Barboza, that can be forgiven.

I hear people saying Nate isn't Top 20. I'm not knowledgable enough in the LW division to make such a list. Which 20 guys would you put ahead of him?

My post got cut off for some reason
    The full post is there.

But yeah anyone picking Nate has prolly only been following MMA for a year. This aint even a close comparison. So much historical revision on Nate's career after he strangled Conor.

Ney-than bout to clean up at 202.

Mayweather doesn't even know who Giblert is.

And yeah, even Nate has said on multiple occasions that Gilbert is the best LW. He knows that Gil is a much more complete fighter, and arguably Top 5 ever at LW.

Hmm. That's a great question. I'm curious to see the answers. Maybe you could make that a thread

Nate's the better, more skilled fighter. Gil probably has the better resume at this point.

    No order

    BJ
    Gomi
    Eddie
    RDA
    Frankie
    Benson
    Giblert
    Aoki
    Pettis
    Kawajiri
    Joachim
    Shaolin
    Gray
    Aurelio
    Kenflo
    Cowboy
    Sherk
    Pulver
    Uno
    Thomson

Nate is right behind tho. The Michael Johnson win was big but in terms of wins and rankings over course of a career I can't put him ahead of those guys, he's right there tho with like Edwards, JZ, Chandler, Sato, Mach, Clay etc.

Diego was also really good at one point. Brooks already has a resume but is out Nate ahead for sure at least for now.

Hard to say. I think on average Diaz may have fought slightly better competition but I've also been more impressed by Melendez' performances.

Nate is better than at least half of that list.

    Yeah no.
Both fought for the title, both lost the title shot, both have some good wins but tend to fail against elite competition.
Their careers are very similar only that Cowboy beat up some more bums.
When they fought Nate destroyed him. You seem to be a bit anti-Nate biased.
