Rampage beat Prime Chuck and Prime Hendo.
Chuck beat Prime Couture and Prime Tito.

Rampage also unified the ufc and PRIDE belts. It's tough to not pick against Rampage.

I agree. Chuck had a more successful title run, but Rampage beating Henderson is better than anything Chuck ever did IMO.

Rampage in terms of better competition and wins, but Chuck was/is more popular.

    Rampage.

    Won UFC LHW championship.

Unified UFC and Pride LHW championships.

Prestigious Pride 2003GP runnerup (ironically, he beat Liddell to get to the finals).

To top it off, he beat prime Liddell 2x.

Rampage had higher highs and has had a longer career, but Chuck was a long reigning champ so he wins

Chuck. Having a dominant title run is worth a lot of points. Nobody else at LHW was dominant (not even Rampage) until Jon Jones showed up years after Wanderlei & Chuck's simultaneous falls. Rampage won a close decision against Hendo in his only defense (a guy who was submitted in round 2 in his next match)

Also, some of Rampage's out-of-the-cage problems hold him back at well.

Overall I'd go with Rampage, but the end of both of their careers leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully Rampage can go out on a better note in his new stint in the UFC.

Chuck has the more impressive run as champion but he lost twice to Rampage which really makes this thread answer itself

    Rampage by far.

Smashed Liddell in both of his "primes"

Has better wins and less embarrassing losses and didn't go out in glass.

    It's Coke vs Pepsi.

For me, Chuck. Because of his crazy KO streak (what was it, like 7 in a row? Including Randy who had never been ko'd?), and mainly his superstardom. Yeah I said it. What Chuck did for the entire sport of mma, inside and outside the cage, is far > anything Rampage has done. Even including the A-Team movie.

Everybody knew who Chuck Liddell was. Hell my grandmother knew who Chuck was. He is imo a HUGE piece of what launched the UFC to household name status. The UFC's rise was also a combo of the right sport at the right time, yada yada....but a gigantic (and often underestimated) part of the UFC's rise was due to Chuck fucking Liddell.

Although not against elite competition Rampage is on a 3 fight winning streak.

Chuck went 1-5 to finish his career, 4 being brutal ko/tko's.

I don't know how this is even in question, it's pretty obvious Rampage faced way stronger competition. People keep saying Chuck was LHW champ for a long time but if he was fighting people like Shogun, Dan Henderson, and Rampage regularly instead of Tito Ortiz or Randy Couture it's a pretty safe bet he wouldn't have defended his title as many times as he did.

I like both fighters but I don't think this one is even close.
