Best way for BJ to beat Sherk is the Rubber Guard

that's the dumbest thing i've heard. sean sherk on top = sean sherk winning. bj will need to sweep sean or take him down himself. anytime bj is on his back, he is losing the fight. something that people forget is sherk has NEVER been submitted, the only way i see him being submitted is with a rnc, nobody will catch him from guard.

i honestly think this fight is a HUGE tossup. before i saw sherk's pic i thought he would grind out the win via LnP steroidness, but seeing that he's off the juice, bj has a MUCH better chance of winning.

Bj will rock Sherk, take him down, pass his guard, and choke him out. He does this in lke every one of his fights. Bj's top game is much better than Sherk's IMO, and he's way better at using elbows/punches while also maintaining control and passing to a better position

I don't think BJ will try to take down Sherk. If BJ gets top position on Sherk I see it happening because BJ drops Sherk with a punch. Either that or BJ gets taken down and ends up sweeping Sherk.

I don't think he will "rock sherk, THEN take him down."

To me that reads, BJ will stun Sherk then initiate some sort of wrestling take down.

I don't think BJ will choose to take the fight to the ground unless he drops Sherk all the way down.
 
I dont agree with the post maker. I think that BJ should avoid any bottom position. GNP is Sherk's bread and butter. I dont think BJ can take down Sherk too. I think bj will get on top from a scramble (Sherk trying to td BJ) and work from there.

Bj by rear naked choke in the first 2 round, if not, he will gaz out like usual and Sherk will GnP him in the 3-4th round.

so you're saying the only way BJ's gonna get Sherk down is by all but knocking him out, then crouching down over him into the top position.
 
Out of all the ways Penn can/will win this fight, the rubber guard is one of the last that comes to mind.

Thank you for the dose of reality. This is a very even fight, between two very, very good fighters. They are two of the best ground specialists in mma, and it seems to me that the winner will be the fighter who manages to dictate where the fight takes place. Obviously, this most likely means 1) Sherk UD via steady GnP from top, or 2) Penn TKO with knees (as TD defense) or submission from dominant position. At the end of the day, all I know is that it will be a great fight, and that I'm cooler than all of you because I will be there in person.
