Hey Sherdoggers,

I have a lot of things going on all of a sudden:

  • reinvigorating my career
  • starting a new company on the side
  • remodeling my home
  • getting my diet/ exercise routine prioritized.
  • streamlining life in general (getting rid of a lot of clutter)
and I need some help managing everything I need to accomplish.

Requirement:

  • Ease of use: I should be able to seamlessly work this app into my daily routine.
  • Syncing: I use an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook* at various times for various situations - for obvious reasons it would have to be iOS compatible.
  • Optional levels of complexity: I would like to be able to grow with the app as needed.
I'm turning to you guys because I'm tired of buying apps before or after researching them only to find they aren't as magical as they seemed.

What say you Sherdog! What is the best take/ to-do list app, and why?

*I'm not a Apple whore, but I like their products as they are easy to use and reliable.

What kind of company are you starting? What career are you reinvigorating. Sorry to sound nosy.

This thread is relevant to my interests.

This sounds more like a project management app requirement than anything else.

With that in mind I have used a website called Trello in the past. It's all about to-do lists, what's in progress, what's completed, etc. You can have multiple projects at once, which it seems you need. No need to worry about syncing between your different devices, as it's all on the web.

I'm a pharmacist, so I'm taking steps to improve my current status.
The company I'm starting has to do with medical testing. Pretty much zero risk with a lot of potential in the reward column.

Is it our comic book/pop culture magazine?

No, BUT, it could stream line me so I can focus a little bit more on the important things, like sherdogging and our comic book magazine :D

Without looking @ your link (I will after I finish this post), I was initially looking for project management apps but they seemed more geared toward teams than an individual user.

Trello can be teams where you assign someone a task. However, you can do it all yourself and be the only team member along the timeline if you'd wish.

1. I hate how these sites force you to join before they provide their clean 'how-to' video.
2. I hate how people put together 15 minute 'how-to' videos on these apps and they just suck at giving any type of presentation, whether they're monotone or completely unprepared.

It looks a lot like ansana, which didn't seem very high functioning or conducive for a single user.

What role does trello play in your life?

Take a look at Clear to see if it fits your needs.

First of all, i'm not sure if "just" an app will provide you with the necessary tools to do what you need. As someone else said, project management tool (basically any tool with included gantt chart) would be more suitable (IMO). Smaller tasks could be then divided in to-do app.

That said:
Evernote is an app that often comes up as a great to do app. I tried it for a few days, but it was far too advanced for me, due to not having as many tasks (as you do) at that time. I'm sure it is great, but it was bothersome for me to learn to implement it, although i would be capable of doing it in no less than a day of fiddling arund with it.
Syncs multipe devices (useful for having all in e.g. work computer/home computer, phone and tablet).

Native iphone reminder app was quite useful to me when i was still using iPhone (again, i'm not a power user so i didn't mind it being "light"). Full integration with my private and work computers in a heartbeat, without any hassle. No clutter, just works. I miss that thing on android.

Nowdays i'm using any-do, which works quite fine for my purposes, and is capable of much more than i currently need. There's still major flaws with it (such as sync with Google tasks and calendar). Not sure about full Apple compatibility.

Good luck on all your projects (magazinemagazinemagazinemagazinemagazinemagazinemagazinemagazinemagazine)

I've been using InkPad for years. Very simple. Gives you three list type options.

I'll give it a look, thank you!

I've heard good stuff about Evernote & any.do, I take a look at them.

Clear isn't doing it for me.

Evernote.

We have a winner. I've been using it for a week and it trumps the others big time.
My hesitation concerning Evernote, was that it would be too robust for what I needed, but its simple enough to use and the growth potential is leagues ahead of the other options I've tried.

Thanks, Mick and everybody else.

I know, right? np, btw. Up until about 18 months ago, IIRC, I favored a few others like Supernote, Catchit, and one or two others I can't now recall, but I could tell at the time that the field was wide open and nobody had established dominance over the "Virtual Palm Pilot" application of smartphones. Evernote quickly surpassed them. It just had better support. It was a friend who gave me a head's up to how good it had gotten.

I've experienced some hiccups with the cloud integration, here and there, but the more time unfolds the fewer and fewer any issues or grievances I have, and the more all of my wishlist additions are bequeathed. Plus it's on every platform, so you don't have to worry in case you ever switch platforms (for whatever reason, like a new job) and you can integrate more easily with friends and colleagues on those platforms via the app.

Its clean and multifaceted.
I love that I can do some work on it @ home and have access to everything form my iPhone or iPad.
