This is Jacare's list of his top 5 submission artists in the UFC. The source is from the brazilian website Globo which has a bunch of exclusive interviews with brazilian fighters everyweek. I will translate his response.

"Demian Maia - Está impressionante, ele "berimbola" com o adversário. Eu acredito que ele será o campeão do peso-meio-médio em breve por ter um jogo ruim para o Robbie Lawler, o campeão da categoria."

Demian Maia - He is on a roll, he plays with his opponents like they're prey. I believe he will be the champion of the WW division pretty soon because he's a very bad match-up against Robbie Lawler, the current champ.

"Fabricio Werdum - Não tem para onde fugir contra ele. Finalizou o Velásquez e é o atual campeão do peso-pesado"

Fabricio Werdum - There is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide from this dude. He submitted THE Cain Velasquez (OMG!) and is the current UFC Heavy-weight champ.

Nick e Nate Diaz - É dois em um. Eles têm um jogo solto e, vacilou, eles finalizam. É isso que eu gosto bastante no jiu-jítsu deles. Vão para pegar, para finalizar.

Nick 'n' Nate Diaz - Two for the price of one! They have a really loose and relaxed game and, you make a mistake, they will finish you off. That's what I really like in their jiu jitsu art, they go out for the hold, and then they kill.

"Rodrigo Minotauro - Sou muito fã dele. Eu ia me colocar na lista, mas vou botar o Minotauro. Ele finalizava todo mundo, conquistou grandes títulos utilizando o jiu-jítsu, o que prova que ele está dentre os maiores."

Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira - I'm a huge fan of the Minotauro! I was going to put myself in this list, but I ended up putting Big Nog. He won championship belts from all around the world (Rings, Pride, UFC) using his jiu jitsu, which proves he is among the greatest ever to grace us in MMA.

"Frank Mir - Ele gruda, coloca uma pressão impressionante e finaliza qualquer oponente."

Frank Mir - This dude sticks to you like glue, puts on unprecendented pressure and finishes ANY opponent.

What do you sherdoggers think? Who are/were the best submission fighters in the UFC?

Royce Gracie was fighting in UFC when nobody train defence

No love for Olivera?

I wonder where he would rank Rockhold/Weidman.

Royce Gracie was fighting in UFC when nobody train defence

so what? he still had to submit guys who had 50 to 80 lbs on him

Royce second victory in the UFC was against the very dangerous submission specialist Ken SHamrock. Hence the picture i put up representing Submission fighting in MMA.

Werdum submitted The Cain.
Cain was never submitted before and is one of the best HWs of all time. But I honestly think Jacare wanted to say Fedor, because he has stated in the past before that he is a big Fedor fan.

Can't argue with that list

Ronda should've been on the list. That's some high level sexism right there, Mike.

TS posted his pic, he was implying something

I think it's the Gi... Plus it's an iconic Jiu-Jitsu image that you see on a lot of walls of a lot of gyms and schools.

whitebelt account from 2005 with only 100 messages, I should be grateful for your presence here.

But in all honeslty, Ronda is great but here division seems less trained in submission defense then Royce's first couple of UFC tournys.

Palhares should be on that list too even though he is far from sportmanship

Like a poster said earlier, it's the most iconic UFC related pic to the suave art of Jiu Jitsu. A smaller man in a Gi submitting a bigger catch wrestling dude, u don't get much more MMA Jiu Jitsu than that.

Royce is a great submission artists, but the question asked to Jacare was the best Submission MMA fighters. Royce is from a time that no one even cross-trained.

He def should, but I think his hijinks in the cage has really hurt his reputation for other brazilian submission specialists in MMA. Palhares is known as a scary, dirty and powerful fighter here in Brazil.

Jacare should have put himself in the list, otherwise good
