I read a post that said A. Silva is possibly the best striker in MMA history and it got me thinking. Who is better than A. Silva? Is there anyone you would say is above? Or just a few that are equal if any?

Absolutely.

His creativity alone.

Cro-Cop fans incoming...

It's Jake Shields and its not even close.

Cro Cop in his prime for sure. I'd even veture to say manhoef as well. He's a little more kill or be killed though.

Silva is still dangerous as hell even passed his prime, not even close.

I'd probably give it to Silva, but some other names to consider are Cro Cop, Overeem, Machida...

And a lot of the K-1 legends had a fight or two in MMA if you want to technically include them.

Also, Joe Stevenson's Superman punch is the stuff of legend.

Crocop

Andy has, what, one noteworthy striker on his resume?

Cro Cop and Overeem are better strikers. Anderson Silva fought opponents with shitty stand up. Anderson striking looks really good because he is able to evade very well and relies on his opponents coming at him and countering. Match Anderson against someone like Saki, Spong, or any top level kickboxer and he would look average but in MMA it works for him.

Best striker overall is Anderson Silva.

Best technical striker is Jose Aldo.

Most powerful striker is Melvin Manhoef.

Most elite once-in-a-lifetime striker is Ronda Rousey.

Gotta go with either silva in his prime or Aldo. They're both so fucking technical

The answer is Anderson so much so that I don't even worry about second place. The gap is pretty good sized

Here is a list of some of the greatest strikers i have ever seen in 23 years of MMA/NHB.

Anderson Silva
Mirko Filipovic
Jose (Pele) Landis-Jons
Pedro Rizzo
Wanderlai Silva
Bas Rutten
Chuck Liddell
Muricio (Shogun) Rua
Jose Aldo
Takanori Gomi
Kid Yammamoto
Andre Arlovski
Vitor Belfort
Igor Vovchanchyon
Junior Dos Santos
Donald Cerrone
Carlos Condit
Melvin Manhoef
Robbie Lawler
Stephen Thompson

I would rank Anderson Silva as probably #1 or #2 all time as the greatest striker i have ever seen, with Mirko competing for top spot. Jose (Pele) Landis-Jons might be the most underrated on that list however.

Many strange answers...Is this even a discussion? The greatest standupfighter of all time is Semmy Schilt. He was also great at MMA, even if he never focus fully on it.
