The streak that Cerrone is on is one of the most impressive in recent memory when the quality of opponents and the time frame in which it took place. If he loses to Khabib (which I think he will) he will have to start all over again trying to get a shot.

If that happens this will be his streak.

Evan Dunham- Not ranked but arguably top 15 and a solid win. Plus, he finished him.

Adriano Martins- Again, not ranked but a solid fighter. He finished him within one round as well.

Barboza- Again, not ranked but he is now and the way in which Cerrone beat him was very impressive.

Jim Miller- Not ranked, but he should have been in my opinion. He was the first guy to finish him by strikes and he did it with gusto.

Alvarez- Ranked #8 at the time.

    Myles Jury- Ranked #10

Benson Henderson- I know the decision was controversial but he was ranked #6 and Cerrone took the fight on crazy short notice.

That's 7 wins with 4 finishes in 14 months with the last 2 being over ranked guys two weeks apart.

If Cerrone loses, will this be the most impressive streak ever that wasn't rewarded with a title shot?

    He never beat Benson Henderson.

    I'm going with JDS.

He knocked out the #1 contender (Werdum) in his debut and then consecutively defeated Struve, Crocop, Yvel, Gonzaga, Nelson and then Carwin before finally facing Cain for the Championship.

Granted JDS was promised a shot after Nelson but our breakable Champion (Cain) wasn't ready so he was scheduled to fight Brock Lesnar before Carwin stepped in.

Cub Swanson. He could've fought for the title already around June/July last year, but they waited for some reason, then Aldo unfortunately got injured.

Man, I think I would have to agree that this is the best I can remember that didn't earn a title shot. Getting a W on 3 top 10 opponents in a row, after beating 4 unranked immediately prior. That's an amazing streak. Its now been 2 years since he lost to Pettis, but I don't think he'll get the rematch, because I think Khabib will take him (unfortunately).

How about Diego Sanchez between TUF and Koscheck. 7 or 8 in a row I think with wins over Florian, Diaz, Parisyan, Riggs, etc.

John Fitch after losing to GSP he went one a streak

win Thiago Alves UFC 117 - Silva vs. Sonnen
    Aug / 07 / 2010 Decision (Unanimous)
    Herb Dean 3 5:00
win Ben Saunders UFC 111 - St. Pierre vs. Hardy
    Mar / 27 / 2010 Decision (Unanimous)
    Dan Miragliotta 3 5:00
win Mike Pierce UFC 107 - Penn vs. Sanchez
    Dec / 12 / 2009 Decision (Unanimous)
    Mario Yamasaki 3 5:00
win Paulo Thiago UFC 100 - Lesnar vs. Mir 2
    Jul / 11 / 2009 Decision (Unanimous)
    Yves Lavigne 3 5:00
win Akihiro Gono UFC 94 - St. Pierre vs. Penn 2
    Jan / 31 / 2009 Decision (Unanimous)
    Steve Mazzagatti

b4 drawing with BJ. This is even more relevant if you remember that Alvez had a title fight durinbg this time and there was no real challenger left so they gave Hardy a shot.

YEah he had a great 7 fight streak but when he went on it the UFC LW division was nowhere near as good as it is now.

LOL, UFC wanted to do absolutely anything they could to not let Fitch fight for the title, just in the off chance that he pulled it off against GSP. They hated him so bad. Oddly enough, his fight with GSP was actually one of my favorite GSP fights. Tons of action, and Fitch showed some real guts in that fight.

That's right. I was trying to remember who broke his streak. Seems like Jim hasn't been able to recapture that momentum.
