Best "safety and defense": Jones, GSP or Aldo

I'd say Aldo is the best defensive fighter in MMA. His TDD and striking defense are second to none, hardly gets in a bad position, great head movement, parrying, blocking and countering. (inb4 Mendes fight)

GSP was more of an active guy, I don't see him as a defensive guy, more of a risk averse, he was very active and agressive.

GSP had the best trained defense.

Jones has the best natural defense, he can literally hit you from about a foot further, nothing can top this if he tightens up his hands.

Aldo uses speed as his defense.

So my rating:

1. Jones
2. GSP
3. Aldo

GSP stood for significant amount of time with the best strikers he's fought as well. It's pretty dishonest arguing to try to make it out to be that GSP instantly took down strikers and only stood with ground specialists.

I agree with you. Just seems to be "always" fighting opponents weaknesses instead of their strengths in contrast to fighters like Diaz.

IMO it's gsp. Jones has a good argument though, given his record and lack of damage he has taken. Aldo has some of the sharpest defense as well.

If you look at the most damaging fights these guys have been in, it goes:

GSP: Hendricks, Condit, Serra
Jones: DC, Gus, Vitor
Aldo: Mendes II, Hominick

Obviously this isn't exact, but if I had to put them in order, over their entire UFC careers, I'd say:

1. Aldo
2. GSP
3. Jones

How Jones first damaging fight is DC fight???

Avoiding risks doesn't make me think of Jones personally.

The fuck with Aldo. He was getting fucked by Mendes way worse than Conor.

Jon Jones, the only time he got busted up real bad was against Alexander Gustafsson.
Other then that he usually walks out pretty much unscathed not counting his freak toe injury accident.
Georges St Pierre always looks very banged up and Jose only have gotten banged up by Chad Mendes.
