Just wondering what lesser talked about channels that people are into. Of course we all know about Netflix and the regular shit. But what else do you use?
For me, a few would include:
CBSN: Just found this one the other day. It's CBS's free, 100% Internet-based 24/7 news network. Basically they took the model of a regular cable news channel and put it on the Internet. I've been turning it on in the background and just letting it roll for a few hours every day to get an idea about what's going on in the world. Some of the content is live, some of it is pre-packaged. It's kind of a hidden gem, I think.
tubitv: Totally free movie service that I just recently started using. Surprisingly, it's not all bullshit and actually has a fair amount of good movies. It's ad-based, and the adds run about every 10 minutes, but if that doesn't bother you then it's worth a look.
Pluto TV: This is one I just started fucking with yesterday. I find it very interesting. It basically takes the traditional set-top cable box experience, complete with channels and linear programming, and puts it into a Roku app. There's a guide with different channels, with programming that just runs constantly like on regular TV. But the channels are weird. Some of them are things you've heard of (like, there's a CNET channel) but others are channels, with content, that you've probably never heard of at all. Not sure yet how much I'll use it but it's at least worth giving a look.
PBS and the Smithsonian Channel: Just like they sound. Mostly educational content, but also some dramatic material on the PBS side. Not much else to say here, but I've found both valuable.
