Where is the best place to buy dumbbells? I am looking to buy some 45 lb dumbbells for my dad's birthday. Does anybody know where to get cheap ones?

Does he already have any dumbbells? If not, adjustable is definitely the way to go.

You can get good equipment at decent prices at used sporting-goods stores like Play It Again, provided you don't mind that they're, y'know, used.

+1 for adjustable. Meaning empty handles with spinlock collars and loadable plates. Not the adjustable bowflex $1000 ones.

Costco sells a pretty good set of adjustables on occasion.
