Just discovered Chino Moreno's Palms project with Isis (not the Islamists).
Took me a bit to get into it but it is pretty cool, if you like Chino.
More mellow, really long songs.

I don't know if Mars Volta would fit the category but a couple of guys from At the drive in, really blossomed as they departed from At the drive in.

Mike Patton has been all over the place and he usually does interesting stuff.

Mad season was pretty good. Layne Staley from Alice in Chains did the vocals.

Any others?

Edit: just remembered LARD - that was fun. Ministry and DK together.

Saw the thread title and was going to come in to talk about Palms but you got that covered already.

Great live, take the chance to see them if you get it

do you listen to +++ at all? it's Chino's other side project.

I agree with Palms great band. Also like most of mike Pattons projects

Daniel johns had a one off called the dissociatives which I really liked

Nina perrson had a couple albums with an outfit called a camp and they were quality.

My favorite Kim deal album is the amps - pacer. I like it more than any pixies and breeders album and that's saying a lot since I hold those bands in high regards.

Yes, everything he touches seems to turn into gold.
Team sleep was also great.

Really like this one

speaking of Patton... Just got my tickets in the mail today for Faith No More. Stoked for their new album coming out.

Really like most of Patton's side projects, especially Tomahawk..... though I wish he'd bring back Mr. Bungle.

Hell yeah I am going to one of the wiltern shows and the Santa ana show. I'm kinda bummed the new album won't be out until after those shows though.

I was gonna say Mike Patton.
Not sure if Mr Bungle or Faith no more was the side project but both were pretty good, and I enjoy some Fantomas stuff too.

And I mean...Lovage. Fantastic project right there.

agreed. Supposedly he is bringing back Team Sleep as well.

That would be great.
Reminds me of a radio interview with Jonathan Davis, he said that Chino was a really bad drunk. The radio hosts wanted to blame it on the white pony - how Chino had talked poorly about Korn - but Jonathan insisted that he is really bad with drinking lol.

Power Station, of course:

Highwaymen: Cash, Jennings, Kristofferson and Nelson- pretty epic line up.

This is brilliant

Just for name value can't beat Traveling Wilburys (Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan):

Cream:

Mars Volta
Postal Service
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
Duck Sauce

I got my tickets for the April show In Vancouver. I'am a huge Mr. Bungle as fan as well. I remember the first time i saw them, 86st in Van...my mind was blown.

I just dated myself...ugh.

Judging by what Patton's said, it could happen. Trevor Dunn doesn't seem too bothered about it, but I'm sure he could be talked into it. Just need a festival to book them so the bellend from RHCP can have them thrown off.

Dave Grohl's Probot is a favourite of mine. Not a single duff track except for the Lee Dorrian one, and that's more because I've never been a fan of his voice. Seems a decent guy though, and his label's put out some good stuff.
