I've compiled a list of what I think are some of the best Jiu Jitsu academies in the world. Each and everyone for their own respective reasons. I am aware that I'm missing some, as there are so many out there. But I think each and everyone that I've listed here are definitely world class. Make a list of the top 10 BJJ academies in the world, ordered from 1-10. I'm curious to see which ones you all will list.

Here is a list I put together, in no particular order:
-(US West Coast)-
Atos Jiu Jitsu

Good to see Oklahoma is on the East Coast now.

How can you rate gyms without actually train there?

I think your list should be renamed, which gym do you think has the most famous instructor in the world of jiu jitsu.

Anyway, this shitty list is shitty.

Nice list, but it's a Fanboy list, nothing more. IMO 90% of peeps that practice BJJ will learn more from your average Black Belt instructor than attending one of those famous schools if they are not a world class competitor.

Plus, how many of those names actually teach a class the average member is able to participate in.

I think the list is fairly accurate because all of these gyms produce good competitors in sport BJJ, except for Gracie Academy in Torrance because GA focuses more on self defense.

Whats the place called where Leondro Lo and the Miyao Brothers train? Isn't it the Costa guy. Sorry, can't remember name of that place and instructor.

Is Xande Ribeiro still teaching in LA? Thought he moved?

I started out at a non-competitive school with average/unknown blackbelts, then I jumped ship to an extremely competitive school with high level/well known blackbelts.

The atmospheres at these schools are night and day different. Everyone at competitive school, from white belts to blackbelts, is hungry to become a champion at their belt level. This winning attitude is contagious and in addition to high intensity drilling & training make your jits better. Iron sharpens iron.

At non-competitive school the atmosphere is much more relax. They focus more on having fun and self development. The crowd at this school is a lot older, with a career & more life responsibility, too.

The point of this thread isn't the list of academies that I made. I want your OPINIONS of the top 10 BJJ academies in the world in order from 1-10. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated :)

Cicero Costa, in Sao Paulo.

just an info, Xande is now living in Brazil since December of 2013. He doesn't teach in LA anymore

The best way to do it objectively is to go by IBJJF placings.
Off the top of my head ATOS,GB NORTHRIDGE,COBRINHA,ART OF JUIJITSU,LLOYD IRVING CAMP SPRINGS,CRAZY 88,MARCELO GARCIA NYC,and ALLIANCE ATL are the schools regularly getting results across the belts in the US.
ALLIANCE SP,Cicero Costha,GB RIO,GF TEAM,FIGHTZONE(Checkmat HQ),SOUL Fighter HQ, and NOVA UNIAO as far as Brasil.

I hear what you are saying, and I would consider you in the 10% that would be able to either re-locate or have one of the schools close enough to be able to train and benefit from. But I still think 90% would not have the ability, funds, and/or necessity to re-locate to train at one of those schools and can find great training in their own "backyard".

I think the TS meant "best" as in how many high level competitors from all belt levels those gyms have produced
