So I've had this pair since for over 2 years:

    http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS...58&sr=1-1&keywords=wireless+headphones+for+tv

And the right ear just went out on me today.

So I need a new pair of headphones. I use these for watching tv/movies and playing video games while my lady is sleeping or she just doesn't want to hear the tv.

I don't need a headset with a mic. Just regular headphones for listening.

These were wireless, I'd prefer wireless but I'm open to suggestions. What is my best option at a somewhat reasonable price?

If worst comes to worst I could buy a new pair of these, just figured I'd hear what other people use first.

    Edit:

Budget (provide multiple ranges if you want multiple recommendations)
    Wireless / Wired)

    200 or less (preferred)

Platform* (specify your Sound Card or Mixamp if you have one)

This is for use with my tv/blu ray player, Xbox one. I have a vizio smart 3d tc, can't remember the model off the top of my head. Will look when I get home.

Must it be a headset? Or would you consider a headphone that you'll mod with a Sound Card or Mixamp and a detachable microphone?

I just want a headset. No microphone. Much prefer wireless. Something fairly contained that others in the room wouldn't be able to hear. Something with a charging station.

I use Sennheiser hd 598's, they are super comfortable and have an amazing soundstage, as well as good frequency response, clarity, separation, and accuracy.

Yeah I noticed the prices the other day. I'm sure they are not much better sound quality than headphones half the price.

I always worry that my headphones are too loud when i'm on buses or trains.
    I've got these Skullcandy ones:

I wear them even when I'm not feeling like listening to music, just so nobody starts talking to me.

Maybe a wire came loose. If you have some soldering skills, it may be worth taking it apart and seeing if it can be repaired.

Oh yeah while I enjoyed the 120s they were far from perfect. Don't get me wrong they lasted over 2 years and were a very manageable price point of around 75 bucks. But I too had problems with buzz/static. It also had an annoying auto off that if it didn't hear sound for a minute it would cut to loud static. In addition and maybe this was a manufacturer error with mine the right war always was picky and I had to fiddle with the tuning to get it right..maybe that led to its eventral break.

But I digress..I appreciate your suggestion. It looks like the 170s look like a good upgrade possibility. Not insanely priced so might be worth it if they really are quite quality. I might take a look at getting those if I can levy they other 100 bucks

    Define these:
    1. Budget (provide multiple ranges if you want multiple recommendations)
    2. Wireless / Wired
    3. Platform* (specify your Sound Card or Mixamp if you have one)
    4. Must it be a headset? Or would you consider a headphone that you'll mod with a Sound Card or Mixamp and a detachable microphone?
You can ignore #4, I guess, but do you never use chat in games? You exclusively game SP or silently?

This is linked in the headphone post from the Gaming Headset thread above, but it can't be linked enough, really:

    ^^

Had a pair of MDR-7506 where the right side went out. I took it apart, checked all connections; they were fine. After about 15 minutes of fiddling with it, I noticed that my dog chewed through the cable. :icon_lol:
