I was watching Cheik Kongo fight against Carmelo Marrero were he lost because he wouldn't work his stand up in the 3rd round. This arguably isn't the only time he lost because of his idiotic game plan his fight with Herring he tried to out wrestle him and lost. With Cain he would rock Cain, I think he dropped in 3x that fight, but would go for the clinch or td and ended up losing again.

So who else is a great fighter with a bad fight IQ or strategy in the fight?

Reem has some bad game plans recently.

He lost to fighters he clearly should have beaten.

Hope he gets back on track in December.

Jamie Varner.

All the skills to be at the top again, but his fight IQ leads him to slugfests with guys like Trujillo.

Thiago Alves

Rick Story used to have an awful habit of keeping his back against the fence in the second half of fights

Diaz brothers. Luv their style but damn... Both of them could be champions...

I think you overrate their abilities a bit. Yeah, they've got a unique style, but I don't really think they're fighting that much to their own detriment. They're just not good enough to beat the best guys anyway, IMO.

Melvin Guillard. Could have been a real contender but could never keep his head together at the big moments.

Perez when he fought Caraway made me angry. He was beating him in the stand-up and then went for takedowns even though he was losing on the ground every time.

Melvin Guillard... There was like 3 different times in his career that I was dead sure he would become champion... pretty sad to see him never get it as a big fan of his.
