**Book Discussion past the current episode is fine, but please keep it within spoiler tags.

Robert in both, though it takes longer and is less impressive in the second scenario.

I have no idea how it would play out but I'm leaning towards Robert in the freak show matchup as well.

Drunk Robert would just pummel handless Jaime IMO. He's still a huge son of a bitch and IIRC shoved Jaime on his ass with little effort in GOT.

In the non-freakshow fight, I think Robert beats Jaime for the same reasons I think he beats Barristan, except I think a prime Selmy is better than Jaime.

Lol...Drunk Robert launching Jaime is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. That shit was lulz. Even funnier when I think that they're all about the same age and have known each other for decades. To everyone else, Jaime is the feared Kingslayer, the sword prodigy, the Golden Lion of Lannister.

To Frat Boy Bobby B, he's a fucking dweeb. Probably been beating his ass in melees for years.

Robert wins 2 easily IMO. Jaime, even after training with Bronn still isn't good with his left hand. Meanwhile, Robert would just be slower and weaker than in his prime, but I think not being skilled is a bigger disadvantage than being fat and slow.
I mean, Robert could probably still use his hammer, or a sword with deadly force, just not as fast as he used to. Jaime would have a lot of trouble blocking that.

Not sure about prime vs prime. I picked Barry over Robert, but Jaime isn't quite as good as Barry. Still freakishly good though, but I'm going with Robert in both cases.

haha me too. He then says something to the effect of "I may be fat and drunk, but I can still beat your ass!"

@ Lethal, I think some of those options are dupes.

"Jaime wins in Scenario 1, loses in Scenario 2" is the same thing as "Robert loses in Scenario 1, wins in Scenario 2"

Baratheon beat-down IMO.

LOL - too funny.

Christ, you're right. Removed the last two.

Jaime in both. In the second scenario he either stabs Robert in the back, or he wins by default, because Robert is long dead when Jaime loses his hand.

I guess it was a foregone conclusion? I'm honestly ok with skipping that one.

it would have been so lop-sided in favor of Dayne they didn't bother with the poll

I'm surprised there are so many votes for Robert in both senarios.

Robert may be fat in the 2nd senario, but he was planning on fighting in the trident of the Hand's tournament, and loved hunting boar.... Neither easy by any stretch of a breastplate.

What happened to Lannister v Dayne?

My thoughts exactly.

I voted for Jaime in prime and Robert post prime. In their primes the fight wouldve been epic and at the time of the rebellion Robert wouldve crushed Jaime. This being due to the fact Jaime was like 16. Jaime at the start of the series beats any version of Robert, though not without some difficulty. Come to think of it, the only time their primes crossed paths was at the Greyjoy rebellion, when they fought together.

In the both past primes scenario, Robert wins easily. He was fat, slow and rusty but was still strong as hell. Plus his adrenaline and ferocity would give him a (short) window of serious whoopass. Left hand Jaime would have no chance of avoiding the warhammer or have the finesse to inflict a life ending wound on a full plate Robert.

Prime robert is a beast whose idea of fun is doing melees. Thats as hardcore as u can get for a sport. While jamie is elite, the bigger guy will always beat the smaller one if technique is a wash.

Fat robert still beats left-handed jamie because beer & powdered sugar. Powerful? Yeah. Powdered sugaaaaaaar!

Robert wins both IMO. I think the only guys who can match Prime Robert are Arthur Dayne and Selmy, even then it's a toss-up.

I always thought Jaime was meant to be one of the tallest and strongest as well?

He is. Jaime is probably around 6' 2" and is appropriately strong for a man his size who has been training his whole life. Maybe top 20 in Westeros in terms of pure strength.

Robert is 6' 6" and is probably about as strong as The Mountain (who is near 8ft tall and 400lbs). He's a freak.
