Best detective looking for serial killer movies

Edge Of Darkness arguably kinda fits into this genre

Great underrated cop / mystery dark noir either way

LA Confidential is a really good detective movie

Not really a serial killer movie though

But still it is really good
I enjoyed the first Toy Story movie

I think nearly all the legit ones have been named. However, I’ll also add Changeling. It’s based off true events, but knowing this, you have to have the stomach for it. The movie is well done, but it’s depressing AF and seeing how law enforcement, and the city in general, handles the situation is unbelievable.

These murders were so bad, the town where the murders took place ended up changing its name.

Mr. Brooks.

Kind of surprised to not have seen it mentioned (unless I missed it). Great movie, awesome cast, but it seems to fly under the radar for some reason. I guess it could be that the internet "hive mind" has decided that they hate Kevin Costner, but the movie is great and fits well in this thread.

I adore this sub-genre TS.

+Cape Fear
+Copycat
+The Exorcist III
+Insomnia
+To Live and Die In L.A.
+1 for copycat, wasn't expecting that. Scared the hell out of me as a child.

Manhunt Unabomber - mini tv series, about Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber
The fall - irish tv series, three seasons, finished

Both are good

Insomnia for me.

Speaking of nolan, does Memento count?

Changeling was a great movie.

Based on Andrey Chikatilo, probably one of the worst persons to ever live.
If you can actually find it to watch. Great film and totally underrated.

1. Memories of Murder
2. The Chaser
3. I saw the Devil
--As a matter of fact, Korea has this genre on lock.--

4. Insomnia
5. Sin City (Sorta fits the criteria)
6. I really like The Big Bang with Antonio Banderas
7. Brick
8. Prisoners

FYI, The top 2 films are two of the best films ever made. Leaps and bounds above expectations of greatness.

A Walk Among the Tombstones fits the criteria I think

Considering you included sin city and prisoners which are two of my favorite movies ever imma have to watch those.

Silence of the Lambs and Manhunter were the first to come to mind.

The Wailing. While considered more horror than crime/drama it satisfies both criteria.

Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs.

I enjoy the Alex cross with Morgan Freeman even though they arent too good. Freeman is how i see a real detective would work.
