He completely avoided Rumble and didn't commit to any strikes that's why he wasn't rocked. Gus being the stupid ballsy loveable viking decided he wanted to plant his feet int the opening round against one of the scariest punchers in the UFC.

Anthony Johnson seems to have a hell of a chin. Don't recall him ever being seriously hurt. Gus also landed a huge uppercut on him, and he ate it like it was nothing.

who could survive a headbutt right hand combo from Rumble while off-balance and on one-foot? And even then he didn't go out cold.It was Rumble's great cage-cutting abilities that kept Gus from recovering and got ultimately finished.
