I am watching The Fighter again and I’m impressed once again by the complexity for the characters, quality of the story, and the acting. Oddly, the boxing scenes aren’t very good.
But I was thinking about a recent boxing film that was better but nothing struck me. Cinderella Man? Creed?

What’s better than the fighter?

Absolutely loved Cinderella Man. Really the only one that stands out as a favorite.

Other new ones are like South Paw, Bleed for this. There is also the Ali movie. Can't really think of anything else.

I came in here to say the fighter. The fight scenes aren't so great but everything else around it is so good, especially christian bale's role. I wouldn't put any of the others above it since 2000.

Creed was good too, million dollar baby also but i think it's over rated. Southpaw and hands of stone were a let down. The fighter is better than all of them.

agree. South Paw was alright. Bleed for this wasn't bad, but I thought Hands of Stone wasn't a good film at all. Creed is fun, but it's fun as rehashed Rocky, not as a "higher" film, if you will.

I havent seen million dollar baby since it came out. I might rewatch that sometime

Love the topic. I'll go Cindarella Man as that's probably my favorite boxing film yet. Great movie.

Creed was probably the best Rocky type movie since the first Rocky movie.

The Fighter and Cinderella Man. Million Dollar Baby was pretty awful.
