I was listening to some Big K.R.I.T when it hit me that this music is unlike a lot of what I used to listen to back when I was growing up, so I was wondering what songs I used to really enjoy as a youth and what I couldn't stand. For me, I remember really liking the song "Tipsy" by J-Kwon even though now I wouldn't be able to hear it without throwing up. But I was like 12 so I had no idea what the song even meant, it was just earworm catchiness. "Gold digger", "Hey Ya!", "Drop it Like it's Hot" were all songs I really remember growing up.
Kanye West, Pharrell, Lupe Fiasco, The Game, Eminem etc. were all cranking out music (mainly stuff on the radio) that I remember a lot of.
