No argument with the price gouging by the medical industry. That's the biggest problem. And it always has been in the US health care system. But like focus on extreme climate change, extreme change with Obamacare and single payer has directed all attention away from something that could and should have been fixed.

My dad is a vet (honorably discharged) and was turned down from the VA because he made too much money.

Are you sure it isn't because of the dishonorable discharge? I've got a friend that pays a fee; but it's still cheaper than going to a family physician, he makes around 65k/yr.

I don't know about "at all", but I know he tried to for one specific condition and was turned down because his income was too high after leaving the military.
