Now owns a total of three houses.

Guess that Clinton endorsement was even more valuable than we thought. Glad to see the old guy has something substantial to show for selling his soul.

    Gotta' pay-to-play, DNC bitches!

Wasn't his self-reported net worth something like 600,000$?

I guess Bernie got a nice payday for playing ball. Too bad it's not going to fill the hole left in his soul.

    already a thread on this

Im the first guy looking to rip on socialist hypocrisy - but a 600'000 lake front home is a smart investment and is easily affordable with his salary / financial history.

The fact that he used loopholes to get his 1% salary down to roughly 13% tax bracket - is something you can kick him about.

That's pretty cheap for that house. There's no shortage of people I know that have houses more expensive than that.

probably a dump in florida, 600K doesnt buy you much of a home honestly. Either the guy sold his soul for very little, or naturally a cuck.

Bernie is proof that the American Dream is still alive and well for any and all honest, hard working citizens.

Plus, this is a man who paid his dues. I mean, how many Americans have to wait until they're in their 70's before they can finally afford their first half a million dollar summer home?

Its his third home. That's confusing as he's a self proclaimed socialist.

Ah, nothing like a guy getting shit on for being a responsible old man who was able to get a good deal on a relatively modest lake-house.

Get back to me when he puts"SANDERS" in solid gold on his roof.

You can hold properties as a democratic socialist -- willingly circumventing tax brackets by using loopholes makes him a fucking hypocritical putz.

    Is it in the Berry?

It's actually the other way around. But maybe that's the difference in perspective between one guy who is and one guy who isn't looking to "rip" on socialist hypocrisy.

    It's in the WR

And I don't see how him only paying 13.5 in effective tax rate isn't a point to berate him on - very much a do as I say but not as I do human.

    Well, you've got me there.

A $600,000 summer home is certainly "relatively modest"... when compared to a NYC penthouse apartment.

He was working within the guidelines of the current tax law; a tax law he wanted to see reformed.

Was he supposed to pay the IRS more than he actually owed as a sort of socialist penance?

It's not like he was using overseas tax havens - another kettle of fish entirely.

He was profitting off a system that he wanted to ensure no one else would do. I'm not sure what your definition of hypocritical pandering / hypocrisy is -- but that falls dead center into mine.

"We need to the top to pay fair share -- right after I exploit it to get as much out of It as I can"

For an 80 year old senator who's been financially responsible, I believe that home is called "part of the american dream".

But sure, you're right. He should be eating ramen noodles in a shack and mostly drinking his own piss if he wants us to listen to his economic ideas.
