I've been having a lot of trouble with this sweep lately. The problem is distrupting my opponents base and balance when inverting. I've been inverting explosively too. Oh, and yes, I simultaneously underhook and grab my shin with the closest hand and grip their belt with my far hand. Finally, I invert and straighten my closest leg. It usually ends up a scramble.

Try getting a same side sleeve grip, then proceed to pull his arm all the way across his bodys as you invert and shoot your hook all the way through. This always helps me pull the guy off balance and bring his weight over top of my hook.

Thank you! I'll give it a chance today in class. My training partners have caught on to this sweep and make it relatively difficult for me to sweep them.

I pull down on the near hip (same as a belt grip, I just do things no gi friendly) and extend my hook, effectively taking him backward and pulling him down. Usually works pretty well.

Thank you. I appreciate the tips.

I've had trouble with getting them down as well. I invert no problem, but end up spinning thru to 50/50 on the far leg. Not so bad, but I'm not really trying to complicate things.

Make sure your hook sails through completely. It's going to end up becoming a deep De La Riva hook. If you combine that with the inverting and pulling motion of the belt or closest sleeve, it distrupts their base.
