But man the UFC changed him. I still feel like he is one of the best 155ers ever, but I think either his prime is gone orthe UFC forced him to change the style to fit the point fighting system

The UFC forced him to change his style to point fighter?

Well I mean the UFC fighters. Guys like Edgar try to out point you. So he just learned the game.

Though I think the punk was trying to point fight too

He put an ass whooping on Miller and Diaz and Guida. I think he has trouble against mobile guys, which is why he struggles against Edgar, Melendez, Thomson and PEttis.

Edgar dropped him 3 times but he was the one trying to point fight. Makes sense.

What on Earth makes Benson your favorite fighter? I just don't see how he could be anyone's favorite fighter...

Remember when he used to pull guard and go for his famous guillotine?
He took a lot more chances in the WEC, as did Pettis.

Benson learned that if you pull guard and go for a guillotine, but don't get it, you lose the round 10-9.
Pettis made some comments regarding UFC fight style in his post fight interview after the Stephens fight, where he lost the first round because of a TD. He was forced to turn the rest of the fight into a TD contest and he apologized for it.

Maybe TS is a troll, but there is a bit of truth to it.

He man come on! That's not really fair....I am sure people who have insomnia love him.

Nobody cares that your favorite fighter is really lame.

Really? Can you point out those 3 times when Edgar dropped him?

I don't think he dropped him 3 times..but I know for a fact Frankie dropped him in round 5 of the first fight and round 4 of the second.

Both were flash knockdowns though, where Benson immediately recovered.

Guys don't fall into his guillotine anymore. That's the only difference I see other than his improved striking and clinch.

If Benson was still fighting B-level fighters, he'd still be running clinics on them and trashing them fight after fight.

Instead, he's facing the best fighters in the world, and unfortunately he just doesn't have the finishing weapons of someone like Pettis, and he's not recklessly aggressive like a Diaz.

He's still an offensive-minded fighter, and he tries to finish, but the weapons just aren't there, no matter how skilled he is.

He also almost stopped Diaz, and beat Jim Miller and Mark Bocek half to death, which aren't easy tasks.

What's wrong with being a "point-fighter?" Better than getting KO'd in every fight.
