I've never understood why people call Benson Henderson "Bendo". Can somebody explain it to me? It doesn't make sense to copy "Hendo" because they have the exact same last name. Benso?
Dan Henderson is Hendo and was around before, so you add the Ben, you get Bendo. Also, I'm pretty sure it was coined after his first fight with Cerrone. He had so many near submission escapes that he was deemed too bendy to be submitted, so you again get, Bendo.
yes. it was Gumby immediately after that. but for whatever reason, Bendo (Bendy + Benson) stuck instead.
Newsflash: Hendo is not Dan Henderson's first name and last name somehow combined. Bendo is a play on Hendo, but still not BenHen or anything like that.
Hendo got his nickname in Japan, the 'do' is an honorific ending, I believe, or it has some Japanese meaning "the way of". Bendo got his nickname by piggy-backing on this Hendo formation.
