Rothwell was a top 20 guy at one point in time. Now with his last defeat, he has dropped down to MMA journeyman status.

What's next for him?

Definitely. Gonzaga wasn't exactly great either so its a tough loss for Rothwell. I think he's had some serious injuries and personal problems recently though.

He did going into the fight, ya. Rothwell seriously needs to stop with the Homer Simpson strategy though, put people on the cage and start dirty boxing, just something

I think Gabe just went first and got his groove early, and also had a good strategy with his striking

All respect to Ben Rothwell as a fighter but he hasn't really shown he can hang with the top ten. His bests wins are Roy Nelson and Brendan Schaub. Never seen his fight with Nelson in the IFL but it was a split so it must of been close. He knocked out Schaub, but Schaub has been showing his chin isn't great.
He got swept by Yvel and almost armbared by Mark Hunt. He has shown cardio issues in the past.
I didn't see how he was going to beat Gonzaga since Gonzaga has been going back to his BJJ roots lately. I got Gonzaga at -105 which I thought was a great bet and won a nice amount of money. I'm glad he knocked out Shaub and Shaub beat Gonzaga because I thought Gonzaga was just better everywhere and he should of been more of a favorite.
I guess his win over Shaub really convinced people.
Kudo to Big Ben for having an alright career and he has a few more years left. He has been looking in better shape lately and hopefully he can keep improving.

He looked... very average on the weekend, was he injured or something? Can't blame a weight cut!

When was Rothwell ever a top 10 guy? I think people are expecting too much from him, like knocking out Schaub somehow made him elite.

Just reminding everyone of Gonzaga's losses: Werdum, Couture, Carwin, JDS and Schaub. Besides Schaub, the guy only lost to the best. I wasn't disappointed at all, I knew Nap

He "looked" to be in great shape but gassed badly, so did Gonzaga. That fight was just frustrating to watch imo.

Rothwell vs. del Rosario next in my opinion. Or newcomer Geronimo dos Santos.

yeah i was disapointed in him to, but thats only cause i had 100vcash on him :(

I can't say I've ever been impressed with him and said he would lose to Gonzaga standing and then get submitted. I say put him up against Todd Duffee.
