I've been hoping that the silence regarding Carson meant that all was quiet on that front. Seems like a general act of hubris. I want to be forgiving but HUD staff told him and his son not to do it and they did it anyway. So, that's just a general disregard for the rules.

Apparently I conflated two stories. He claimed that he tried to brain his mother with a hammer; and tried to gutstab a friend, but was stopped by his brother and a beltbuckle repeatedly.

It was a weird set of events because some left-leaning publications reported that they couldn't find anyone to corroborate this story and it seemed exaggerated. So some right-leaning publications decided to defend Carson's honesty by insisting that he totally did try to murder his mom.
