Could the best version of Ben Askren beat Usman? What do you think?

I promise I'm not trying to troll. I just wanted to hear what people think. I watched a few of his old matches today and he looked a lot stronger than I thought.Ok I'll bite... probably not.
And this is from a dedicated Askren fan.
Usman is simply too large. Askren could probably make 155 if he wanted and Usman is simply too big and has crazy cardio.
Askren has far better wrestling credentials but there is a reason there are weight classes in wrestling

What's the reason for the hate? I'm curious. Askren seems like a likeable guy. He's a bit of a smart mouth but often times he's not too far from the truth.Askren had great grip strength and a very unorthodox wrestling style. It translated well to MMA and he has some wins against very credible opponents.
Problem is here on Sherdog there are a shit ton of Askren haters who take delight in shitting on him.
As such this thread will devolve pretty quick.

It simply irritates people that a guy who achieved practically nothing in MMA is spoken of in the same breath as fighters who were champions at the highest level. And this kind of talk persists even after Askren was proven beyond doubt to be mediocre in the UFC.What's the reason for the hate? I'm curious. Askren seems like a likeable guy. Huge NCAA fan... I know Askren had a terrible time making 163lbs for 2008 Olympics and he was sort of sluggish because of it. His body type is just unchangeable we all gotta accept thatOk I'll bite... probably not.

So talk of his greatness is one of those issues that seems so ludicrous when people refuse to back down from it. A bit like creationism and climate change denial.
Undefeated for a decade; champion of two different orgs; tons of great wins during his streak, 2 time NCAA champion... “achieved practically nothing.”
Sherdog for ya.
Yep in the context of UFC champs, that stuff is practically nothing. You insult the likes of GSP, Silva and even Usman by reducing their achievements to something on a part with Askren's.
