Ben Askren takes on Olympic Gold Medalist Jordan Borroughs tonight.

@Stixx and @Dirge are still celebrating Tito getting sweet revenge on Chuck. A win is a win, right boys?

Also, Melendez fought Henderson for the title and got cheated out of a split decision in his UFC debut. So there's that.

Also, Dan Henderson:

First 2 UFC fights: Allan Goes, Carlos Newton

First 2 PRIDE fights: Wanderlei Silva, Renzo Gracie

First 2 UFC fights upon 1st return: Rampage Jackson, Anderson Silva

First 2 Strikeforce fights: Jake Shields, Babalu Sobral

First 2 UFC fights upon 2nd return: Shogun Rua, Lyoto Machida

Khabib was relatively unknown coming into the UFC. Askren was involved in the lone "Trade" between 2 major MMA promotions, comes in with good record and has been a champion in the multiple orgs he's been in outside of the UFC.

You're trying to make Askren look extra good by discrediting other fighters, that's not necessary.

He is making a fool of himself in this thread. It went from annoying to highly entertaining.

lmao

where can i watch this for free and when is main event

this is definitely going to have back room gentleman agreement to not do any crazy moves that could cause injury.

I think, as was also said earlier, this is revisionist history. Or you just didn't follow live and are looking up their present records.

Brimage for Conor and Johnson for Gaethje were not "feeder fights" at the time.

Alvarez also got Cowboy in his first fight over from Bellator. But clearly we can go on.

Alvarez was the current Bellator champ when he came into the UFC. Bellator was and is the #2 org.

And Johnson? Seriously? Johnson was 1-3 in his last 4 when he fought Gaedjthe. At that point he was a name that posed little threat based on his recent performances.

I expect many watched Conor's first fight and had to google Brimage to figure out who he was. But hey a fighter with no major ufc wins, no titles, no main event cards either... I was at UFC 152 live here in Toronto and he was on the undercard and the guys I was with had no clue who he was despite having "3" wins in the UFC. Brimage's claim to fame was getting choked out by Bryan Caraway on TUF 14.

I am doing nothing of the sort... Askren accepted a far more dangerous first fight than Khabib or Conor. That's simply a fact. However given his rocky past with Dana & Co. it was probably by design. They were hoping he would get smashed and fade back into obscurity.

There is nothing wrong with new entrants to the UFC getting feeder fights. If history has shown us anything there are no certainties in fighting. Hell Pettis was coming off his best performance ever via showtime kick and came into the UFC with huge hype. Guida has always been seen as a tough fight, a good fighter but not a great one and the expectation was that Pettis would wipe out Guida and then fight for the UFC LW strap. Except he got dry humped to death.

Just because Askren got a tougher first fight than the guys I mentioned isn't a knock on them, Askren should have gotten a couple of easier fights to build up his brand before fighting a monster like Lawler.

Borroughs will probably make it fun, but yeah, he should beat Askren bad. No shame on Askren either, Borroughs is as elite of a wrestler as you can have who is still completely dedicated to the sport.

Just had a wrestler fall off the stage, not hurt, but they need a safer setup for a charity event.

I don't really know much about wrestling be it Greco-Roman, Collegiate or freestyle but I do know I'm going for Ben Askren even though it seems like he has no shot according to this thread.

I guess there's no real drug testing in wrestling? some of these guys are juiced to the tits, Askren probably gonna get manhandled

Yes you are doing that. And no, Askren came in as a multiple org champion who had yet to be defeated. He wasn't coming over from random Russian orgs, he came as a One and former Bellator champ.

He got a tough fight as he should. Askrens great but you're making it seem as if the UFC offered Conor or Khabib a fight vs a top 5 guy in their first fight.

Becka Leathers sounds like a decent porn name.

Askren is going to tear his MCL getting double legged off the stage

Just had David Taylor suffer a knee injury which is slowing things down

Match 12 is going to be sick. Diakimohalis vs. Punia will be crazy. Punia got a silver at last year's worlds, gold at the Ali Aliev memorial and Asian championships, and Yianni is coming into his own, but Bajrang will be a good test.

Yianni match was awesome!
