Askren fan here, just trying to give the cliffnotes of Matt Hughes and Ben Askren (and fans) twitter war from today, it was a long ones. I'm biased but thought Hughes came across poorly and would have been better off not responding.

Ben Askren:
I dare any media member to ask @JohnyHendricks if I make him nervous and post his stuttering response.

Matt Hughes:
@Benaskren @MMARoasted @JohnyHendricks You talk to much ben.

Ben Askren:

You seem to a put a lot of effort into documenting trite Twitter wars.

So.. Matt Hughes said what the company wanted him to say and Ben askren said "LEL YEAH IM A BETTER WRESTLER"

Okay.

Damn, Matt Hughes not only comes off as simple minded but also a jerk

It did take a solid 10 minutes, I would have done it earlier, but was too busy checking out Luke Rockhold.

I find a UFC employee saying "ppv sales trump skill" to be more than a trite comment, we all knew that was how they felt, but to see it in actual writing I thought was pretty dumb on his part.

I fail to see the ownage by funky Ben. Seems like a lot of whine. He really thinks Dana is protecting Hendricks as a golden goose? Hendricks is one of the least marketable champs they have. Dana would sport wood for days if GSP announce his comeback.

Its a sad world when fighters fight on twitter instead of in the cage.

Hughes has played the role of the jerk in exchanges before but this wasn't one of them. The role definitely got filled though.

Ben is the quintessential bad guy.
Love to hate him.
Lol at the Bigg Rigg fatty jokes.
Lmao

Well considering he wasn't even part of the conversation until he interjected himself

Jesus, Askren is never going to get into the UFC like this. He is a really good fighter who I could see making some waves, but he is fucking idiot for not knowing when to keep his mouth shut. This isn't a matter of who is right and who is wrong it's a matter of him wanting something and insulting the very people who could give it to him.

Chael success that he generated with his shit talk was about his opponents and never the hand feeding him. If Askren doesn't understand that is how the game is played he will never get his shot.

This looks like a typical nerd fight.

Oh he's notorious for both of those things. Perhaps you should read made in america to scratch the surface. He seems to have a lot of character.

Askren seems to think his handful of Twitter white-knights constitute a massive fan following.

Askren doesn't annoy me as much as he should because ya...i get the gimmick. But, I kid you not, if and when he steps up in competition he'll be fighting someone with real TDD and power like Lombard, Lawler, Ellenberger, etc. and getting flatlined in short order.

I don't think either guy came out looking good.

Wow this Askren guy should write a book on how to make really bad career decisions. Why not get into the UFC first and win a couple fights before he starts running his gums? To his credit he makes a good keyboard warrior.

Matt Hughes seems to have the intellect of a primate. Askren's wrestling credentials are not to be questioned.

dont really see any ownage. if anything askren should listen up a little bit but still take hughes advice. that way maybe he would be relevant.
then again. leg humping dosent exactly sell ppvs.
and hes not good enough on the mic to sell them otherwise.
its pretty clear hes not gonna make it to the ufc, but its also pretty clear he knows very little about how to be truly sucessfull in the mma game..
ffs he still thinks its an actual sport
