I thought only black belts actually had a "part" for stripes, and even that is only in BBJ, or at least that is my impression. Most other systems just sow gold stripes into the black belt.

BJJ belts have rank bars...

anyways to the op, medical tape (like for wrapping) is pretty much the standard.

He has probably been a white belt for 6 years and still never knew how to put his stripes on. Thanks to the guy necroing this thread, he finally found the answer he was looking for after 6 years and he now has his stripes on his white belt!
