Will Dana actually put ego and business aside to bring those in? I think it's still more important to emphasize fighter safety. Some journalist should actually quiz him on it and we as fans should make some noise about this.

Have the statistics been released as to whether they actually work? And don't Everlast own those gloves? The UFC might have a contract in place already which doesn't allow them to just swap gloves/companies.

That's why fans have to call him out for the company policy of "safety first".

not bad results but i dont like the curve as i feel it would create more accidental eye pokes.

To answer your question, it isn't Dana's decision. If it's in the interest of the UFC financially, and from a PR standpoint they'll use the gloves (as long as they aren't under contract with another producer).

Dana controls the promotional aspect of the UFC. He's the face of the company, but isn't in charge.

I'm just wondering why they didn't go with the Pride gloves. I mean they already own the IP so no worries about lawsuits or anything silly. Its been proven already. Just print UFC on the glove instead of Pride.
Now you have battle tested new gloves, less finger pokes and everyone's happy. Unless you're in the small percentage of people that likes to get poked in the eye.

Did you actually watch Pride? There were constant stops in fights to fix those damn gloves.

So you modify the design by moving the finger rings down.

It seems like the UFC isn't doing anything though. Whenever people say "I should do something about that..." the way Dana did, it usually means inertia has set in.

I don't know, the day the debuted didn't they have 2 fights end by eye pokes and result in No-Contests? Or was it one eye poke and one devastating ball shot?

Either way, not a good thing when the glove that should end all accidental eye pokes results in a scratched cornea and the doctor not letting that fighter go on

I would imagine the curve actually decreases the chance of a poke. It automatically bends your fingers down.

Not really. It forces more of a clinched fist, which reduced eyepokes. PRIDE's gloves were also curved. But the difference between these and PRIDE's is that in those the parts wrapping around the fingers were too long, hence, prone to fight stoppages when dislodged. These are much shorter round the fingers so less likely to be dislodged.
