Bellator Mousasi-MacDonald, Wanderlei-Rampage and Welterweight GP

Bellator 206:

Gegard Mousasi vs. Rory MacDonald for the MW Championship

Wanderlei Silva vs. Rampage Jackson

Douglas Lima vs. Spartan Koreshkov

Aaron Pico vs. Leandro Higgo

Probably the best fight in Bellator in years IMO.

I'll definitely use the month free subscription for this, if I keep DAZN, will depend on its actual price, if all bellator cards on it are good quality, and what else will be on it.
$9.99

Is the app available for US of A now?

It’s supposed to start in September 10th
With a boxing event later that week. I'm curious what the App will have to offer in terms of non-live events. Either way doing the free pass in September is a no brainer.

I’m planning on doing the same

Watch Joshua/ Bellator and match room boxing in early October and try it to see if it’s worth it

Hope Rory pulls it off. Can’t see a persuasive path to victory for him through, given the style match and size discrepancy.

macdonald vs mousasi: everything right about bellator

silva vs rampage 4: everything wrong about bellator

Totally agree on second part, but not the first. McDonald hasn't even defended his title, and has plenty of good competition at WW. Why throw him to a MW/LHW striker? I'm not a fan of Mousasi and think he's overrated here, but he's a very tough stylistic match-up for Rory. Rory was outstruck twice by Lawler and by Wonderboy...now he's fighting a guy who's bigger than either of them with a longer reach? Mousasi is also too big for Rory to outwrestle or hold down consistently. He really has no winning gameplan here.

If Rory had defended his title 4 or 5 times, this might make sense...but it doesn't right now. I feel like he and his poor nose are being fed to the lions.

I feel the same way, I don't understand how Rory's team let him take this fight. He's a great fighter but this match up is all wrong for him physically and stylistically.

Ariel's interview with Coker said Mousasi vs Rory is exclusive on DAZN, so no TV. Coker mentioned a free 30 day trial. I only could find on web that DAZN pricing is to be announced this summer.
It's $9.99/month

So smart of Bellator to hold this event in San Jose. One of the best MMA towns in the western hemisphere, with several major cities in close proximity. Coker should just go to all of the same places he took Strikeforce, and continue what he was doing with that org. I live in Oklahoma, and appreciate that they love holding shows in Thackerville, but aside from the casino there is literally nothing out there. I know they hold shows there bc of the Indian commission, but it would be a better idea to just hold the events in OKC, which has a booming MMA scene and a commission not much better than the Indian commissions, so they can still get away with shitty testing. And that is where I live, so they should do it for me, bc I say so.

They need to operate in more legit venues and less casinos.

World talking about khabib Conor but I'm more pumped for these 2 complete fighters champion champion dust up Friday night

I believe the reason they still operate in the Indian casinos is due to the deals struck under Bjorn's watch that they have to fulfill. I'm sure when those deals run out Bellator would never step back on Indian grounds.

I agree. Bellator doesn’t have a big roster, and while I get the appeal of champ-vs-champ “superfights”, tying up 2 divisions is unnecessary.

There’s also no history between Rory and Gegard - this isn’t BJ moving up to WW to avenge the loss to GSP.

We'll see... Bellator started in 2007. Did they sign a 15 year agreement?

Anybody know if DAZN will let us know the ratings?

I highly doubt as streaming services they'll release anything, also they aren't so worried about individual programs knocking out of the park. They can spread cost to every subscriber regardless if they watch Bellator. It's about getting enough content that enough individuals will pay for. Currently, like most niche stream service they are being propped up by investor money right now. My guess is right now they need around 600K to 800K monthly subscribers to stay sustainable on any level with the current content(advertising/sponsors can help ease the numbers also). I'm not sure with the current content that is feasible. We'll see over time as content grows but that also cost money to secure, so that will also need more subscribers to support it.
