The insufferable duo strikes again, and compare Dana to the much more flexible Scott Coker. McCarthy goes on to shit on the Lorenzo Fertitta for saying "friendship is friendship and business is business" as if it's some scary heartless statement from an absolute monster.

Hint: Bellator pays dudes on their undercard $1,200.

"friendship is friendship and business is business"
That's a very scary statement.

Its something some greedy paychopath would have as a motto....probably the way most ruthless business people think, from slave owners to sweatshop owners.

Not saying that business should never be seperate from friendship but to have thay mentality/motto....highly questionable ethics IMO.

Fertita bros/zuffa/dana did/are doing a great job of ripping off the fighters...but they don't care, after all it's only business.

That's a normal mentality.

I loved Coker in strikeforce but he's really run bellator into the ground.

The way you pick and choose how to summarize that video reminds me of how the media takes one sentence and twists it to fit what they want it to say. Most Sherdoggers won’t watch the video, and will end up believing your, in my opinion, quite biased representation of it.
Here are my cliffs:
Thompson:
-It’s possible to have a friendship with Dana, but understand Dana is a business man.
-some fighters get their “feelings hurt” because they don’t understand Dana makes this differentiation.
-when it comes to negotiations, fighters need to understand this is how Dana approaches it.
-says Coker is NOT similar to Dana, but the principles of business and friendship apply to how both approach negotiations
-fighters, in general, should get managers so they don’t have to deal with the separation of “business and friendship”
-if a fighter opts for more pay up front, don’t expect post fight bonuses. That is how the UFC deals with paying you more on the front end.
-the promoter is not your friend during negotiations
-business people don’t expect other business people to require them to put friendship on the line
-fighters should think of themselves as business people
-interpreted Lorenzo’s statement as “you should not push me to a point where we are putting friendship on the line”
-business people should be able to handle business and also remain friends if they have a friendship in place

Big John:
-highlights the concept of adversarial relationships
-John clarifies what was “scary” about what Lorenzo said was not necessarily what he said, but how Lorenzo said it and the conviction he had when he said it.
-TS didn’t write Lorenzo’s full quote which was: “Friendship is friendship and business is business, but friendship never beats business.”
-John clarifies that he’s not a businessman and values friendship more.. so it is implied that he did not see eye to with Lorenzo’s statement. He also attributes this mindset to Lorenzo’s extreme success in turning the UFC from a dying organization to a multi billion dollar company.
-texting each other doesn’t make you “friends”

My opinion is TS did a shit job summarizing an overall interesting video from a fighter’s perspective.

I just found their podcast and it's really good.

McCarthy literally says Lorenzo is a brilliant business man and they have different mentalities. He complemented him and didn't shit on him.
Agree. I tried to summarize the podcast a little more accurately than TS’s (In my opinion) emotional and biased summary of the video.

I listened to their podcast a few times. I thought it was hilarious that their podcast is usually breaking down the previous weekends fights. Several times when they would go through the list one of them would say oh I missed that fight. I found that extremely odd

That's what happens when the elitists owns part of the UFC.. deal with it, cause getting that Muhammad ali act in mma.. is impossible.. even if you're a bigger star than macburger himself.

why is it impossible?

you don't think there was opposition to it by powerful rich men in boxing when it was first introduced?

Everyone has a different personality...some people value money, some value friendship, some value honor, some simply dont give a shit about anything but themselves and some care about strangers. And we all have to share the planet and interact and do business with each other...some of us are ambitious and some are not, some of us are sneaky and manipulative and some are suckers......some people front and some are honest about who they are.

That's a very scary statement.

Have you ever had a job before?

Hi Paige! “I thought we were closer friends”.
Fighters are doing a great job of letting themselves get ripped off by ALL promotions. Fighters share equal responsibility as the promotions.

Amazing how they both tried to contain their laughter, when hearing PVZ's "I thought me and Dana were friends"!

Their podcast is great btw!

There’s stuff that you can do in life that doesn’t break any laws but it does make you a piece of human garbage.
