Apologies if I missed this, but several people on the forum have remarked that Ariel said he was unhappy MMA Fighting.com/Vox Media/SB Nation are keeping the MMA Hour going now that he has left.

Is this true? Has anyone seen anything from Helwani to that effect? Is there beef?

"also known as my former monday show"

So it does come across that he still considers his show to be "the mma hour"

well isn't his new show coming on at the same time/day as his old one?

so they'll be competing?

The big question comes up - who is more important, the person or the brand? MMA Fighting vs. Ariel. Everyone should know how to argue both sides effectively.

#nerdbash2018!
Hahaha jk
Even though I dont like Ariel, he is fairly legitimate. Every SBNation article Ive read is completely left leaning, biased, and poorly written/executed. Yes, its all important to them, but it really seems inconsequential to me

Vox Media is dying bro (srsly)

Ariel is to MMA Fighting, as Conor is to the UFC. stars are carrying the companies that made them and leveraging better deals.

Wow, didn't know this.

Kind of a weasel move that he has to take the idea of his old show and bring it to ESPN.

I would be pissed if I was his former employers who bailed him out numerous times... stayed loyal to him when he got booted off Fox... stood up for him when Dana banned him... and now he's saying fuck you guys by trying to compete with them.

Not cool Ariel, Not cool.

Luke will be able to get all the Bellator/non-ufc guys and Ariel will get all the UFC guys.. I think it could still work.

He made that show...not to mention fans WANT his version of the show to continue. I’m happy he still has a show.

It's not a "weasel move". Ariel was MMAFighting. Nobody would know of the site if it wasn't for Ariel.

So the first Ariel and Chael show aired, did anyone watch it?

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about it. They structured it like the typical ESPN pundit debate show where Ariel and Chael are fed a question and then debate it for a 5-minute "round". So of course it comes across like two guys just saying things to argue and be contrary to one another.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the UFC/MMA Fighting disagree. Ad hominems are super duper effective in these situations. If they can tie his crying incident to his general demeanor, that could be a good angle. Lots of good ones available for them. Both sides should get a bump in hits from the controversy, so its a win win ha. Dana and how he talks about people who dont resign like Bendo or Rory are good examples of how to handle it. Dana has a special place in society though, like a Trump. Not everyone can pull that off.
