Anyone always getting looks from bbs at the gym while ur bustin out some cleans or somethin like that? I hate when those pumped up dickfaces with their fuckin bluetooth earpiece are starin at me cause they realize im not at all impressed by their fuckin arms...Now their are exceptions, but for the most part the most pumped up thing is their fuckin ego and they cant handle when someone doesnt listen to their tips about what to do and how to do it...Sorry just venting but had some trouble at the gym today...Bout warmed the incredible hulks head up real quick...anyone else have any run-ins with know it alls?

With a name like Ronnie C it's funny that you hate bodybuilders.

Generally, I do my thing and they do their thing. They occasionally ask me for a spot, and I occasionally ask them for a spot. We don't hate each other, we just have separate goals.

We need a "funny gym story" thread to go along with all these stories.

Just yesterday I was going for a Deadlift PR. I was the only one near the lifting platforms when I started, but I realized people were starting to stick around and watch as I paced back and forth preparing for the lift. After I made a mockery out of a clean lift, I had one BBer come up to me and say "Dude, that was awesome, you're pretty strong for your size". Having almost passed out trying to get 210kg to hip level, I just nodded and sat down.

What I hate is that people trying to get strong are the minority, in a world of buffed up metrosexual pansies who usually bring the same attitude to everything else they do. Pretty package with no substance.

I love that. You just feel like, HAH! you don't know how wrong you are man. I work out at home for the most part though, so it's just those days I lift at school that I run into this.

woah woah! fine if you don't like body builders, but watch what you say about The Incredible Hulk! jajajaja

Back on topic, I don't have this problem at all. Guys at my gym have some different goals I am sure, but besides a few 15 year olds who don't know any better, I have seen a lot of good, solid lifting and never heard anyone badmouth anyone else for what or how they were lifting and the only tips have been people asking me how I lift so much on weighted chins (I am a skinny little guy and they have never seen someone do weighted chins before, probably).

On Monday I was deadlifting and repping 320 lbs. That is heavy for me and I was proud of myself. Then I looked to my left where a guy 5 years younger than me (I am 25, so he must be 20, I know it was 5 years younger because he was in my brothers class) is benching 350 and his partner is putting up 315. Last week they were doing strict sets of 30 chins.

Those guys deflate my ego.

I show a lot of people at my little gym a good time on my DL days.. I'm 5'4" tops and pulled 405x2 today. I get a lot of props and clapping, lol

I notice curl monkeys give a lot of looks, have gotten a few from bodybuilders lately as i've started putting up heavier weights.

Anyways curl monkey stories...

Curl monkey tells me he wants to work on mass. So he is gonna start doing chest 2 times a week. I told him if he wants mass he should squat or DL, he said he hadn't done those in 2 months, and this was his squat day but he decided to bench instead.

In the locker room, curl monkeys training partner asked if he could touch his chest to see how hard it is.

I think this guy was retarded because he was kind of slow. but he kept interrupting me in between my sets, telling me is workout program, and how he smith machine squats 2 plates. I told the kid he should try doing it without hte machine and its a big difference and I'll watch him as he does the bar, but the guy was to scared to try. Anyways later on the guy made some comment that i have good size but small arms, i just ingored it because i didn't care.... 10 minutes later the guy starts flexing his arms to me.... i don't know if he was taunting me or trying to impress me.... i let it go cuz he was retarded.

Theres a huge muscle guy in my gym. he claims he is a strongman. i never doubted him, cuz the guy has a huge back and huge legs until today. the guy couldn't get up 3 plates when deadlifting, and he hitched 2 plates. Given that guys size and these results he must be a juicer, and i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and figure his results today were multiplied because he is prolly on an off cycle. Anyways I did dl today, and even though i don't DL that much, i felt more confident cuz i kick that guys ass in the lift.

Yeah... I actually have enough confidence in my own routine that I don't really care what they say or think. :)

I was deadlifting and some guy walked up to me between sets and told me that I should do sumo style on the smith machine if I wanted to put up big numbers.

I just yessed him to death and went back to my workout. Never saw him again.

Before joining my new gym, the strongest dude I had ever seen was a bodybuilder. He did sets of like 12 ATF squats with 405 like it was nothing.

noticed people sticking around to watch you? no offense, but 455 DL...how big are you?

I don't think the point of his story was to illustrate how much of a badass he is... Just that that weight was uncommon to them and whoever could do it, was worthy of being watched. :D

I agree. Despite what people think/claim on these boards, 455 is a solid deadlift that won't embarrass you anywhere.

i wish i could DL 400 lol

Exactly, I'm a big-little guy, I'm 18, about 5'10 193 and I compete in powerlifting also when I'm not doing MMA. I lift a hell of a lot more than these big muscle headed prick BBs at my gym do, and they automatically ask me what I'm on. WTF???
