Based on interview footage, I don't think Nick Diaz thinks he can beat Silva.

Ok, Nick Diaz doesn't talk trash about every opponent and that aspect of him is pretty exaggerated. Nick Diaz at times in interviews might seem socially awkward.

But recently, I've never even heard him say in a recent interview against Anderson "I'm gonna win this fight". Theres always comments about Anderson Silva fighting that you don't just fight his skills, you fight his aura. Fight his skills, hes fantastic, if you fight his aura too, hes nearly unbeatable.

I understand Diaz isn't someone who just trashes on everybody all day, but I just don't see any confidence in him based on what he says.

I've never seen Nick not say at least hes gonna win the fight, but I don't hear it here. Though I'm sure theres some (or at least hope theres some) where he has confidence. But, from his demeanor, I see him getting KOed pretty fast

Nick Diaz respects Anderson Silva, he's a big fan of Silva -- Diaz has that Warrior Spirit!

He wants to always test himself and push himself to be the best ....that means fighting the best.....I'm sure deep down Nick doesn't want to fight Anderson -- but this is a dream fight against one of the greatest alive.

Nick wouldn't be able to live with himself if he turned down such a match-up.

We don't see these type of fighters anymore - the Nick Diaz, Bj Penn, Sakurabas of MMA -- willing to thrown down with anyone anytime ...to really test themselves -- to say who cares about the money ...I just want to really push myself and see if I'm the best.

*** I'm telling you Now, Nick's not going to smack talk Anderson -- Nick respects those that respect the game, and Anderson and Diaz are cut from the same cloth -- Both are bread from the Traditional Martial Arts both have a great understanding of when its time to respect your opponent and when not to. ***

This is going to be a fun fight for the fans, and hopefully both grow from this fight.

    "I've been running a lot."

    Hm.

EDIT: I thought this was an interview after he accepted the Silva fight. But it appears it's older than that, thank god. Ha.

I know what you mean, this entire lead up he's been almost deferential to Anderson. Maybe he just thinks he doesn't need to hype the fight, that the names will sell it on their own. He doesn't strike me as a confident fighter right now, though.

From a huge Nick Diaz fan, he had the same demeanor against GSP as the fight got closer and closer to happening. I honestly think Nick could beat GSP if he didn't step into the octagon already defeated. There was one moment maybe in rnd 3 against GSP where Nick looked like himself. He put a few punches together and my heart skipped a beat until he decided to be content with getting picked apart on THE FEET.

This fight will be like that fight, just a bit worse. Not too much cause Nick is just that fucking tough but I don't expect Nick to win against Anderson. I honestly think he's already defeated. Which saddens me greatly.

Nick and Nate respect the old school pride guys like Silva, and Gomi.

Besides, Nick knows he's lucky that Silva signed off on this fight, and didn't laugh it off. He's thankful for that $$$ he's about to make.

Based on the entire history of Nick Diaz, I think he really doesn't care and probably just wants to test himself and walk away with some quality cash.

Nick can't stand guys that win by LNP, or by point fighting. Anderson Silva is neither

I agree that he is showing no confidence. Diaz is after the big money. Having said that, once he's in the cage, Diaz will bring it. I respect you, TS, but I don't think he's going down quickly. In fact, I think Diaz has a great chance

Exactly. It's obvious from his interviews he's looking for a big payday and doesn't like getting locked in the cage with killers unless he's adequately compensated. Diaz already has one foot out the door and as soon as he is rocked he will turtle and look for a way out to save a few brain cells.

I thought everyone knew that him and Nate only do it for the money now. Hell, there was a whole interview with Nick talking about how he doesn't even want to fight anymore.

He didn't really talk about how he was going to win the Daley fight either, if I recall correctly.

Not that there is any comparison between Anderson and Daley, of course.

I think he just tends to try and stay muted when he knows the guy he is slated to fight isn't a point-fighter. Always seems to end up with sort of a "either he knocks my head off, or he doesn't" type of sound bite in those instances.
