If Rickson had taken on Bas Rutten or Sakuraba, how would it have gone in your opinion? I believe something like this.

If Rickson had lost, how would the Gracie family have acted?

Is it Bas before he knew how to defend leg-locks or after?

Bas would have whooped him. With all due respect to Rickson, he is mostly hype. A great fighter for sure but watch his fights in the documentary, Choke, he struggled with fighters with no bjj, even got caught in a guillotine by a much smaller fighter, and had the rules changed to favor the grappler. Someone of his reputation shouldn't need these special rules. He is one of those "what if?" fighters, never continued to fight so everyone just assumes "Rickson by arm bar".

The world was robbed of Rickson vs Saku, that would have been fun for any fan, but I think bas and Rickson fight to a draw

Bas lost to funaki who rickson beat handily.

Mma math ftw

I've never been a Rickson fan. A great practitioner, no doubt, but anyone who needs to mold the rules of any sport to suit their fancy is nothing special. I believe Tanks street record over Ricksons.

I think they were both such strong finishers that one would catch the other. I like both, but would have bet on Bas.

I've always thought rickson kind of punked out of this fight. Bas straight up called him out and rickson said nothing. If they had fought, id imagine Bas would have really hurt him. As far as saku goes, rickson probably would have submitted him.....but maybe not. Would have been awesome to see. Seems like rickson would've taken that fight only if he thought he would win for sure. Protecting his record was more important than defending the family name. Sad

We are talking about Bas on his winning streak, when his sub defense was sharpened. He avenged the Funaki loss. Bas in his early career would likely have been easily subbed.

Bas would get subbed by rickson at any point of his career unless he kod him standing.

I agree, but I think its very likely Bas would KO him.

It could happen. I don't think bas has one shot ko power (unless it's to the liver lol) and rickson knows how to close the distance and get the takedown without taking real damage.

I'd put my money on rickson

I think Rickson might very well be the best ''style vs. style''-era fighters, but i think Bas would have won tho. Bas was good everywhere, and Rickson really had no stand up at all.
