Baron Davis Workout

It's kind of long, but it looks pretty crappy.

God, that's terrible. It's no wonder some basketball players look so sickly.

I also don't get how a professional athlete could possibly live off of 3 meals a day.

As expected, shit. But then again he has 5 times the god given talent I have, so it doesn't matter too much.

What is terrible about the workout in your opinion?

For starters, he does too many isolation exercises and only eats three times a day, apparently. That's not all that's wrong with it, but that's what I notice at first glance.

Baron has had injury problems throughout his career, he could be avoiding squats, deadlifts, etc., due to claiming to have a bad back/knees.

No Deadlifts, Squats, or SOHP.
Almost no compound free weight movements.
No plyo's.
No heavy lifting.
Too many isolation exercises.
Almost all machine work.
Heavy use of leg curls, hip abduction, and such.
No real core routine.
No real grip routine (not that it's useful to Basketball players).
A diet of only 3 meals a day.

The injury excuse?

Bad back: Do BOR's, cleans, snatches, and pullups.
Bad knees: Do lunges, car pushes, and plyos.

Overall probably the worse routine for a pro athlete I have seen. If I saw a guy at my gym doing that I'd probably roll my eyes, but I'd expect them to be somewhat misguided. However, it is pitiful when a pro athlete with his talent has such a horrible routine.

I didn't mean to say it was a legitimate excuse, I just see it used all the time. "I have a bad back" usually means "I need to wash the sand out of my vagina."

eh, he used to be a fatass and now his game is sicker than ever. works for him, like a lot of pros who do shitty workouts

Yeah, with all the criticism for his routine, it certainly could be worse. His 3 meals a day could be KFC, McDonalds, and Burger King, and he could be doing nothing in the off-season instead of all that crap.

I think "being a professional athlete" is also part of his routine, for 82+ games/year he's jogging, sprinting, jumping, changing directions, and muscling smaller guards around.

Agreed. And the reason he might be doing his workout is because of his extremely long season, etc.

Strength and power is not a major factor for success as a point guard. Playing basketball is a lot more important for him than being strong.

Actually, I'd argue that size and strength play a major role in the success of big guards like David and Chauncey Billups. We're talking basketball on the S&P forum, but those guys use it to their advantage.

Granted, Davis was always huge, he just needed to slim down and he was already stronger than 95% of the people at his position.

• Jump rope A favorite of Davis's off-season conditioning guru, Dartgnan Stamps, for increasing foot speed. (400 jumps)

this guy is a guru!

It says "Smith rack squat - the safer Squat"

This summs it up.
