During a stretch of roughly two to three weeks this July, my wife and I will be travelling to Barcelona, and then live with friends who are located near Malaga, and we plan to use that as a base and travel around Seville and Gibraltar and finish the trip in Lisbon. Was wondering if anyone did something similar or had insight/useful advice.

Nice spots. But they dont top brockway, ogdenville or northhaverbrook.

Fly to Ibiza. Leave the wife on the mainland. Thank me later

Just came back from Barcelona on Friday. Stayed there for a week. We took taxi in the city but mostly walked to attractions. Get comfy shoes because you'll do lot of walking. You can take metro from Espanya to Montserrat. Also, take bus from bus station in Barcelona to Tossa de Mar (costa brava). Water is cold as ice but it's beautiful scenery. Plenty of restaurants around wherever you go. If you want to tour Sagrada Familia, then buy tickets in advance. They have a limit per day apparently.

Spend a few days in the Algarve southern Portugal. Lagos is really nice but any of those little towns as you go up the coast are sweet. Good surf too.

If you like cities Barcelona is a nice one. I've been to Lisbon as well, it was okay. I've also been to Malaga, but just for a morning on the way to Granada. I went to their market, had some pastries and ham.
