Barboza is ranked #9 while Allen is #7. The fight makes sense.

Yeah it sounds good. I think I'd go barboza again but it's competitive

It's incredible how relevant Barboza is right now in the title picture.

    I would get Barboza a higher-ranked opponent.

he's only #9 because of that stupid loss to Ige which we all know didn`t happen.

I think Barboza will do good in this division.

Barbosa vs Zabit or Yair would be fire, but slim chance of this happening...
Barbosa vs Max or Korean Zombie in the future is also a good fight.

Allen is on like a 7 fight win streak in the UFC. If anyone deserves a step up in competition it’s him

Would really depends on whether Allen can sufficiently mix together takedowns and some grappling. If he can’t he is toast vs Edson

That's a good fight for Barboza. Allen has a good rank but isn't that scary, especially compared to Chikadze, who is the other most appropriate option for a next fight (close in rank, also coming off a recent win, not booked yet).

Considering his name value and how good he has looked at fw, it would be reasonable to for Barboza to get a higher ranked opponent but there really aren't any options in that direction. Zombie is fighting Ige, and Kattar probably needs at least the rest of the year to recover from what Holloway did to him. That leaves Yair and Holloway. A fight with Yair would actually be perfect but booking Yair can hardly be counted on. And a fight with Holloway would be about the worst style match-up Barboza could choose for himself.

Allen is skilled and tough and has a great win streak... however I think Edson would brutalize him. He looks as good as ever and just hits with so much force at 145. Allen has the type of toughness where he'd probably survive but just a take a sustained beating for 3 rounds from Edson. If Allen fully commits to grappling he may have a chance to make it competitive... but I don't see it going very well for him.
