I think Cruz should have his comeback fight against Barao. It takes care of unfinished business between the 2 and then the winner can challenge TJ for the title as the undisputed number 1 contender. In the meantime, TJ can try to avenge his loss against Ascunsao as his first title defense. Thoughts?

Give the guy a chance to shake the rust off from not fighting in like 3 years.

Barao vs. Mizugaki for title shot.

No hate for Cruz from me! Quite the opposite, I am a huge Cruz fan. After seeing what TJ did against Barao, I think Cruz has a great shot of beating him since Domenic has a similar style and speed advantage.

However, as others have indicated, perhaps Cruz needs a tune up fight. It's up to the UFC, I've just always wanted to see Cruz vs. Barao.

I agree. This is an anticipated fight. It does make sense.

If it were up to me, I'd handle the bantamweight title picture like this:

Title: Dillashaw vs. Assuncao II
#1 Contender: Barao vs. Mizugaki

I'd give Cruz a fight with someone like George Roop (believe Roop has asked for the fight). Someone beatable but that will make him work for it. Then I'd match Cruz and Faber up in a rubber match for the #1 contender spot (assuming they beat Roop and Bruce Leroy, respectively). Some may not like the idea of Cruz having to win two fights to get a title shot, but he's been out of the picture for 3 years.

All of a sudden Barao loses and he is a can, god some of u really are dumb... nothing has changed since Barao's loss, he is still a dangerous fighter that Cruz shouldn't be fighting after such a long layoff.

Really some of you don't even think.

the only problem is that the division is thin and in need of stars so if we pit Barao against Cruz, we eliminate a big name.

Why aren't you on the UFC's payroll!?! Seriously, Brah!

Excellent storylines for those fights!

Fight didn't make sense when Barao was champion. It still doesn't make sense now just because he lost to Dillashaw.

I prefer him (cruz) back against "someone easier"..top 15 for exemple

I like it. Those saying Cruz needs a tune up fight are being ridiculous though. How is it gonna benefit him to beat some random guy? What would that accomplish?

It would accomplish not giving him an unnecessary loss. 3 years is a really, really LONG time to be out and not able to fight. You throw him right back in there against the elite and there's a greater probability of him losing coming off a layoff than there would be if he were able to shake the rust off against someone less threatening.

I'm not sure how you can't see the benefit or use of a tune-up fight in this situation. Why put him in there when he's not likely to be at his best?

Ring rust is BS. Hes been training over the course of the years and has had over 20 pro fights. Does beating say, Eddie Wineland or other random fighter really prepare him for Barao or Dillawshaw? No. Every fighter is different. What tangible benefit would Cruz get by having a tune up fight?

Cruz for the title is the only fight that makes sense, he was never beaten to lose his title he should at least have the opportunity to gain it back immediately
