Baffled by Allen Belcher

It would be one thing to go for guillotines when there was little to lose position wise. However, every single guillotine he went for, he was in dominant position against a very good top control grappler. It was bad game planning, plain and simple. I could see going for the first one, but the second and third ones were purely idiotic.

Of course, if one of them would've worked we would've been praising him as the first guy to tap Okami. Funny how hindsight is always 20/20, even though I was screaming at Belcher through the TV to not go for the guillotine even as he was pulling guard for the very first one....

Every exchange of punches Belcher was winnning. But for some reason he would not circle but allow himself to be bullied straight back to the cage every single round. I truly believe Belcher came into the fight thinking he could win anywhere and didn't really need a solid game plan. Belcher was by far the better stand up striker. This is one of those losses that you will regret for a long long time.

But many of those stand-ups should not have happened. Did you see the ref stand them up when Okami had side-mount?

Okami did nothing with full mount for 3 minutes. It was a brutally terrible and boring fight. Okami had no interest in doing anything but holding on. It was awful stalling.

You called him Allen and Tim. :(

I was a little disappointed in Belcher, but much more so in Okami. The guy simply did not attack in mount and half guard for nearly 3 minutes. Most boring fighter on the planet.

Ukami the Japanese Fitch.

I think he gambled with two many guilotine attemps

i saw that too. Okami wasnt getting the takedown, but Belcher gave him it all 3 rounds.

Belcher tries to finish fights it's in his blood. Okami likes to hold and blanket

This man speaks the truth. Way too much is made of positioning. If your'e doing nothing with that position after ample opportunity, then you should lose it and be stood up. Okami was pulling the wet blanket routine tonight. Belcher just played right into his hands by going for guillotine chokes from dominant positions. You just don't do that with elite top control specialists. It's a perfect recipe for a UD loss.

I'm baffled by your spelling of his name.

dude, okami knows he is next to impossible to be submitted like fitch so he lures these guys into submissions (go watch okami vs nate and see how many times okami lured him in)

smart fighter.

I think people were expecting a lot out of his ground game after Palhares.

this

When someones coming off an amazing win and performance, to try to recreate that is like magic itself.

And as we all seen on 155 card every dog has its day even the best of the best can have a bad night.

Belcher is stupid and Okami is smart. Its as simple as this. Okami comes with a gameplan, perfectly executes it, imposes his will on his opponents. His style is a bit like DHK. Both judo black belts, not submission savy off their backs but great at controling from the top and getting back to their feet.

whats to be baffled by?

it was obvious okami was going to win, should have watched the 1st fight.
